2026 Toyota GR86 Yuzu Edition: A Bright Twist on a Modern Classic
Toyota celebrates its lightweight sports car legacy with the new 2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition – a citrus-inspired coupe that blends affordability, sharp dynamics, and standout styling.
The 2026 Toyota GR86 Yuzu Edition revives a bold heritage move last seen in the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 back in 2015. Coated in an eye-catching shade of yellow inspired by the Japanese citrus fruit, the Yuzu Edition turns heads while staying true to the GR86 formula: lightweight, affordable, and endlessly rewarding to drive. Based on the Premium trim with the Performance Pack, it adds Sachs dampers, Brembo brakes, 18-inch matte black wheels, and a ducktail spoiler, ensuring that the flashy exterior is backed by serious performance hardware.
Track-Tuned Evolution
Toyota invited us to test the Yuzu Edition at Sonoma Raceway, where it impressed with revised steering feedback and retuned dampers that made the car feel sharper, smoother, and more confidence-inspiring than the 2024 model. The GR86 continues to excel at rotation, delivering that rare front-engine sports car balance enthusiasts crave. An optional GR body kit and quad-outlet exhaust enhance the driving experience further, the latter adding a deep, meaty tone that elevates the naturally aspirated flat-four soundtrack.

Style and Substance
Inside, the Yuzu Edition sprinkles subtle details to match its vibrant exterior. Yellow stitching and seat perforations brighten up the cabin, while a commemorative plaque adds exclusivity. Transmission choices remain enthusiast-focused: a six-speed manual for purists or a six-speed automatic for $1,100 more. For those who want individuality without compromising performance, the Yuzu strikes a near-perfect balance.
Affordable Driver’s Car
In a segment where affordability is fading fast, the GR86 Yuzu Edition holds strong at $37,560. That makes it cheaper than its closest rival, the Subaru BRZ Series.Yellow, which asks nearly $3,000 more. Factor in Toyota’s reputation for reliability and its motorsport DNA – visible in everything from rally-bred GR Yaris to Formula 1 technology trickling down to road cars – and the GR86 remains one of the most compelling sports cars under $40K.
