Volvo Cancels the V60 Cross Country: The End of Station Wagons in the US
Volvo Cars announces the production halt of its last wagon model for the North American market. This decision marks a historic turning point for the Swedish firm, traditionally associated with this body style.
Volvo Cars recently confirmed the definitive departure of the V60 Cross Country from its US catalog. Currently, this vehicle represents the last exponent of the family wagons that the brand sells in that region. The company justifies this measure due to the overwhelming preference of local consumers for SUVs. Therefore, the plant will finalize the production of units with American specifications during next April.
The announcement generates nostalgia among enthusiasts of the firm, historically linked to versatile wagons. Nevertheless, sales figures support the commercial strategy oriented toward large SUVs. The V60 Cross Country registered only 3,630 units sold so far this year. In contrast, the popular XC60 exceeded 36,000 deliveries, demonstrating a demand ten times higher in the same period.

Order Timeline and Availability
Users interested in configuring a specific unit must act quickly before the order books close. Dealers will receive factory requests only until late January 2026. Despite this, the brand estimates that stock will be available in showrooms throughout much of the year. The cancellation in North America does not affect, however, the model’s continuity in the European market.
Outlook for the Family Segment
The Swedish brand maintains the V60 in other international markets where this segment retains its commercial relevance. In fact, rumors suggest the development of a new generation of wagons for the near future. Some specialists speculate on possible high-performance limited editions under the Polestar label to regain interest. However, for now, the farewell of the V60 Cross Country closes a legendary chapter in American automotive history.
