Dacia Sandero 2026: A Quiet Revolution with New Design and Hybrid Engines
Europe’s best-selling car gets a fresh update with more technology, greater efficiency, and a Duster-inspired look.

Dacia has unveiled the facelift of the 2026 Sandero and Sandero Stepway, an eagerly awaited update that brings new hybrid and LPG powertrains, along with improvements in design, comfort, and safety. This model, which has been Europe’s top-selling car since 2017, achieved a historic milestone in 2024 with 309,392 units sold, marking a 14.5% increase compared to the previous year. Now, after six uninterrupted years of success, the Romanian compact is stepping up its game with a strategic refresh that takes cues from the new Renault Clio.
A Familiar Design, Sharper and More Modern
While the Sandero’s overall silhouette remains largely unchanged, it now features several design elements inspired by the Duster. These include a new T-shaped LED light signature, a redesigned grille, and updated bumpers. At the rear, pixelated LED taillights and, on the Stepway, a matte black strip between the taillights give it a more rugged character. New wheel trims, alloy options, and eco-friendly ‘Starkle’ cladding made from 20% recycled plastic underline its sustainable approach. Fresh colors like ‘Amber Yellow’ and ‘Sandstone’ add to the visual update, giving the Sandero a more distinctive presence.
A Revamped Cabin with More Tech
Inside, the 2026 Sandero significantly raises its perceived quality. Inspired by the Duster, it features T-shaped air vents, denim or Microcloud TEP upholstery, and a new, more ergonomic steering wheel. The centerpiece is the updated infotainment system with a 10.1-inch central touchscreen, connected navigation, wireless smartphone charging, and a redesigned 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Dacia’s clever YouClip accessory system is included, alongside new safety features such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, driver fatigue monitoring, and a ‘My Safety’ shortcut button for personalized settings.

Hybrid and LPG Powertrains Lead the Way
The headline innovation is the Hybrid 155 powertrain, which pairs a 1.8-liter 109 hp petrol engine with two electric motors, delivering 155 hp and 170 Nm of torque. According to Dacia, up to 80% of urban driving can be done in full electric mode, cutting fuel consumption by 10% compared to its predecessor. Another major addition is the Eco-G 120, Dacia’s first LPG engine to be offered with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, boasting a total driving range of up to 1,590 km. The lineup is rounded off by an updated TCe 100 engine, alongside the familiar TCe 110 and SCe 65 options.
Launch and Pricing in Spain
For now, Dacia has not revealed the official launch date or pricing for the 2026 Sandero, but it’s expected to maintain its strong value-for-money positioning. Currently, the Sandero starts at €13,940 in Spain, while the Stepway kicks off at €15,320. Once the brand releases more details, we’ll bring them to you right away. With this facelift, Dacia aims to reinforce its leadership in the European market, blending efficiency, technology, and modern design while staying true to its affordable DNA.
