2026 Nissan Z: The Twin-Turbo V6 Sports Car That Keeps the Classic Heritage Alive
The 2026 Nissan Z merges retro appeal with the saga’s sportiness. It represents the most recent expression of a Japanese icon.
All 2026 Nissan Z models feature a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. The Sport and Performance versions deliver 400 horsepower. They offer 350 pound-feet of torque available to the driver. The NISMO model raises the ante up to 420 horsepower. This top-tier variant produces 384 pound-feet of torque.
The drivetrain is always rear-wheel drive for the Z saga. Sport and Performance models offer a six-speed manual gearbox. They also include a nine-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, the NISMO version is exclusively paired with the automatic gearbox. Additionally, the NISMO brings adjustments to the chassis, brakes, steering, and suspension. This achieves a more precise feel and an even sportier focus.
The buyer can choose among the Sport, Performance, and NISMO models. The new Heritage Package is also available. The Heritage Edition package pays homage to the legendary Z32. This includes exclusive details. The Performance trim adds a limited slip differential and larger brakes.
Driver-Centric Cockpit and Onboard Technology
This generation introduces a much-needed step forward in construction and interior design. The cabin gives a less claustrophobic feeling than the previous model. It features an ergonomic layout centered around the driver. The car is low, but entering and exiting is easy. The door openings are generous, simplifying the action. The heated seats in my test car proved to be very comfortable.

Moreover, the climate control system maintained excellent temperature management. The digital instrument panel is 12.3 inches. The center console integrates a nine-inch or larger touchscreen. It retains the three classic analog gauges above the dashboard. However, forward visibility is hindered by the low seating position. Large windshield pillars also limit vision on curvy roads.
The Z’s daily driving quality is worthy of praise. Larger bumps are absorbed with ease. This makes the Z ideal for long road trips. Nonetheless, the noise emanating from the turbo engine lacks refinement. The car does not sound particularly sonorous during acceleration. This Z is a worthy successor, fast and striking.
