The MG HS 2025/2026 takes a strong step toward sustainable mobility with the launch of its conventional hybrid version, the Hybrid+ Eco, which combines a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine producing 142 HP with an electric motor of 146 kW (199 HP), delivering a total output of 224 HP and 340 Nm of torque. This Chinese-origin SUV competes directly with European rivals such as the Citroën C5 Aircross, Peugeot 3008, Renault Austral 2026, Hyundai Tucson, and Volkswagen Tiguan, solidifying its position in the midsize segment.

Power and Technology in Detail

The MG HS Hybrid+ features a powertrain paired with a two-speed automatic transmission, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 km/h. Its 1.83 kWh battery provides the Eco badge, reducing emissions and improving efficiency, with a combined fuel consumption of 5.5 liters per 100 km according to WLTP–a notable figure, though slightly behind competitors like the 2026 Nissan Qashqai e-POWER and Renault Austral Full Hybrid E-Tech.

Regarding safety and features, there are two trims: Comfort and Luxury. The base model already includes seven airbags, air conditioning, anti-theft alarm, electric driver’s seat, dual 12.3-inch screens, Android/Apple-compatible infotainment system, 19-inch wheels, navigation, and lighting, parking, and rain sensors. Additionally, the SUV comes equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, including collision and blind-spot alerts, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control, ensuring maximum protection on the road.

Price and Differences Compared to the Gasoline Version

The additional cost for the Hybrid+ version compared to the 170 HP manual gasoline MG HS ranges between €3,500 and €4,000, a competitive price considering the hybrid technology, comfort, and safety features. Official prices in Spain are: HS Hybrid+ Comfort, €33,490; HS Hybrid+ Luxury, €36,490.

With this update, the MG HS positions itself as an attractive choice for those seeking a modern, efficient, and dynamic SUV, combining power and sustainability. Its hybrid technology and safety equipment make it stand out in an increasingly competitive segment, proving that hybrid SUVs can be just as exciting as they are efficient.
