FORD RANGER MS-RT: The 240 hp Diesel Pick-up Homologated for the Asphalt

By  |

The Ford Ranger MS-RT, developed with M-Sport, is presented as a pick-up designed for the road. It offers spectacular aesthetics and a dynamism never before seen in a truck of its class.

The sporty image of the Ranger is impressive. The 40 mm widened fenders and reduced ground clearance stand out. In fact, the suspension is four centimeters lower. This generates an indelible impression on the observer. The specific front end features the M-Sport badge. Additionally, the grille and bumper would aesthetically fit any pure sports car.

The absence of running boards is noticeable on the side. The spectacular black 21-inch wheels are prominent. Consequently, they are integrated into asphalt-specific tires. The double spoiler, on both the body and the bed, is a detail to consider. Black inserts and darkened rear windows are also appreciated. Finally, the shock absorbers are distinguished by their red color.

Sporty Cabin and SYNC4 Technology

The customization of the cabin is complete and noticeable. It includes sport seats and a thick-rimmed steering wheel. The steering wheel features a 12 o’clock marker. The seats are covered with artificial leather. Moreover, they feature blue stitching and offer great support. They are not extreme for daily use. The rear space is ample. Nevertheless, the seatbacks are slightly more upright, which is typical for pick-ups.

The digital instrumentation is configured in sport mode. It displays a large central speedometer. There are also driving programs for both asphalt and off-road. In fact, the rear differential can still be locked in low-adhesion areas. The multimedia system is the SYNC4, which is very advanced. The voice assistant understands natural language commands. The navigator and Wi-Fi hotspot come at no extra cost.

High Torque Diesel Mechanics and Asphalt Dynamics

The 3.0 V6 EcoBlue diesel engine is the best mechanical link. It yields 240 hp and offers 600 Nm of peak torque. This low-rev torque is an “insurance policy.” It helps gain speed from a standstill. It also achieves quick, effortless recoveries. Fuel consumption is around 11 liters without abusing its performance.

The automatic transmission with torque converter has 10 speeds. It performs well in standard use. However, in sporty driving, it overuses gear changes. The feel on asphalt is the best possible. The front suspension is firm. The steering has little assistance. Consequently, the pick-up is very effective when tackling curves.

Price and Exclusive Equipment

The Ranger MS-RT is very well equipped as standard. Its price is €71,390. This attempts to justify its cost. Furthermore, the model includes specific floor mats. The 8-inch digital instrumentation also stands out. The 12.4-inch central screen is offered in vertical format. The front seats and steering wheel are heated. Finally, all the technical work behind it generates sufficient fun behind the wheel.
