FORD MONDEO 2026: Hybrid Sedan Renewed in China with a 27-Inch 4K Monitor
The Mondeo, a success in China and a Changan Ford product, receives a major refresh for 2026. It abandons controversial design trends and raises its interior technological stakes.
The Mondeo remains alive in international markets, such as China. This model debuted at the beginning of 2022. Therefore, the time is right for a refresh. We are pleased to see the disappearance of the split headlights. Furthermore, another abandoned trend is the front LED strip.
The profile maintains its two-tone body. It keeps the fastback roofline and the flush door handles. As a novelty, it debuts a set of 21-inch alloy wheels. The tail lights feature different internal graphics. The redesigned third brake light complements the rear design. New paints, such as Crimson Red, complete the exterior updates.
Extreme Interior Technology and Advanced Connectivity
The interior is loaded with screens, a solution highly adopted in China. A massive 27-inch 4K monitor dominates the dashboard. Fortunately, there are physical buttons for direct access to avoid navigating menus while driving. Ford has updated the ‘floating’ central console. Now, it accommodates a wireless charging pad for two smartphones.
The Chinese Mondeo runs the latest SYNC+ infotainment system. This uses a more powerful Qualcomm chip. In addition, it offers a smarter voice assistant. It also features support for over-the-air updates. All Mondeo versions have front-wheel drive.

Hybrid Power Leads the Range
Buyers choose between two turbocharged gasoline engines. The 1.5-liter option delivers 196 hp. The 2-liter engine reaches 261 hp. Both are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Nevertheless, a hybrid powertrain also exists. This is based on the 1.5-liter block. The hybrid delivers 288 hp combined. It is linked to a CVT continuously variable automatic transmission.
Future of the Segment in Europe
Ford is running out of its most traditional models in Europe. The Mondeo also does not exist on the continent. Consequently, no member of the Mondeo family will return to Europe. It is expected that these same updates will transfer to the Mondeo Sport. This model is a combination of crossover and fastback. It was also previously known as the Evos.
