Volkswagen ID. CROSS Concept: The Electric SUV Future “Made in Spain” Starting Under €30,000
The Volkswagen ID. CROSS Concept previews the German brand’s upcoming 100% electric urban SUV, combining attractive design, high efficiency, and Spanish production.
We were able to drive and get a closer look at the prototype of Volkswagen’s urban electric SUV. Essentially, this model represents a crossover version of the upcoming ID. Polo. This model will arrive very soon, throughout 2026.
Platform, Dimensions, and Versions
The ID. CROSS will be developed on the front-wheel-drive MEB+ platform. This is the same architecture that the production version of the ID. EVERY1 will use. The SUV measures 4.16 meters long, 1.84 wide, and 1.59 high. Within the lineup, this vehicle will be positioned as an electric T-Cross. Furthermore, the Landaben plant will manufacture it, alongside the new Skoda Epiq. Meanwhile, the Volkswagen ID. Polo and the CUPRA Raval will be assembled in Martorell.

Performance and Cargo Capacity
For now, Volkswagen has only revealed the technical data for the prototype. The car will offer a single front motor with 211 hp of power. The battery capacity, while unconfirmed, is expected to be around 56 kWh. The brand has announced a range of 420 km. However, we expect a less ambitious version in the final lineup. This version would lower the starting price , featuring a battery around 38 kWh in capacity and lower power. The ID. Cross also announces a 2.60-meter wheelbase. Its trunk has 450 liters, plus a 25-liter frunk. In addition, it can feature a tow hitch. It can tow up to 1,200 kilos or support a bike rack weighing 75 kilos.
Interior Design and Correcting Mistakes
The ID. Cross design is simple and aims to be recognizable. The Urban Jungle green paint with contrasting black details stands out. Illuminated logos, roof rails, 21-inch wheels, and headlights with a three-dimensional effect are also notable features. Protections around the bodywork complete its look. On the other hand, the interior maintains the line of simplicity. It offers a large sunroof and five seats. The vehicle uses sustainable materials. The dual-screen setup includes an 11-inch screen for instrumentation and a 13-inch screen for multimedia. Finally, Volkswagen corrects past mistakes. Physical buttons have returned to the steering wheel. The driver has four controls to manage the power windows.
