New Renault Boreal 2026: the 163 hp SUV that challenges the Dacia Bigster from just €26,600
The all-new Renault Boreal 2026 arrives to shake up the SUV segment with bold styling, cutting-edge technology, and a powerful 163 hp engine, positioning itself as a direct rival to the Dacia Bigster, Toyota Corolla Cross, and Jeep Compass.

Renault Boreal 2026: a large SUV with global ambitions
The Renault Boreal 2026 marks the French brand’s latest commitment to building spacious, affordable SUVs with premium appeal. Based on the same technical architecture as the Dacia Bigster, this 4.56-meter-long crossover with a 2.70-meter wheelbase offers an ideal combination of roominess, strength, and innovation. Developed for key markets such as Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Turkey, the Boreal’s size, equipment, and design easily put it on par with larger European SUVs.
Robust design and outstanding practicality
At first glance, the Boreal stands out for its powerful, muscular appearance, complemented by 21 cm of ground clearance, making it equally at home in the city or on rough terrain. Inside, it offers five spacious seats and a massive 586-liter boot, which expands to 1,800 liters with the rear seats folded. These figures place it among the most versatile and practical SUVs in its class.
High-end technology and comfort

Even in its base trim, the Renault Boreal 2026 comes packed with premium features. It includes LED headlights, a dual 10-inch digital display setup, customizable ambient lighting, heated and massaging seats, and the OpenRLink multimedia system with Google Automotive Services. Safety is also a highlight, with adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, a 360° camera, and autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection — offering a level of technology rarely seen in this price range.
Up to 163 hp and future hybrid options
Under the hood, the Boreal 2026 debuts with the 1.3 TCe Turbo flex-fuel engine, capable of running on ethanol or petrol, producing between 156 and 163 hp. Renault has already confirmed the arrival of a 48V mild-hybrid version, as well as a future 4×4 hybrid variant featuring an additional electric motor on the rear axle. This versatile lineup underscores the brand’s ongoing commitment to efficiency and sustainability without compromising performance.
Pricing and trims: Renault quality at a competitive price
Launched first in Brazil, the Renault Boreal 2026 will be offered in Evolution, Techno, and Iconic trims, starting at the equivalent of €26,600, including an initial discount of over €1,500. With its strong value proposition, generous equipment, and impressive power, the Boreal is set to become a serious contender to the Dacia Bigster, while also taking aim at established names like the Toyota Corolla Cross, Jeep Compass, and Nissan X-Trail. Once again, Renault proves it knows how to blend design, efficiency, and versatility better than anyone else.
