Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses Ends Historic Cycle in Virrey del Pino and Opens its New Industrial Hub in Zárate

The company is concluding manufacturing at its emblematic Juan Manuel Fangio Industrial Center in Virrey del Pino to begin relocating to its new industrial hub in Zárate.

The Juan Manuel Fangio Industrial Center, located in Virrey del Pino, served as the brand’s production heart in Argentina for over 74 years. Iconic models that traveled across the entire country were manufactured at these historical facilities. The closure of this phase coincides with the celebration of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses’ fourth anniversary as an independent company. The production of the final unit marks the official start of the move to the new complex.

New Industrial Hub: Investment, Technology, and Flexibility

The new Industrial Center in Zárate represents a total investment of $110 million dollars. This significant investment aims to boost efficiency and technology in production. Furthermore, the location of the new facilities was strategically chosen due to its proximity to the port. This design provides the flexibility necessary to accommodate the company’s future production projects.

Market Projection and Initial Production Centers

Raúl Barcesat, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses, stated that the move to Zárate marks the beginning of a new chapter. His ambition is to build the best trucks and buses company and continue leading the Argentine market. Initial production at the new facilities will focus on key models, such as the Accelo and the Atego. The OH and OF bus chassis will also be manufactured, along with the REMAN remanufactured parts line.

Centralized Logistics Optimizes Delivery Times

The Zárate premises have already been operating as the Logistics Center for Auto Parts and Spare Parts since late 2024. This center is responsible for supplying the national network of 45 service points with spare parts. The optimization of distribution at this center has managed to significantly reduce delivery times. Additionally, “urgent parts” services are offered, guaranteeing service on the same day or within 48 hours.
