High-performance cars, driving excitement, and electric powertrains rarely go hand in hand. Traditional enthusiasts often remain skeptical, staying loyal to combustion engines for pure driving pleasure. However, automakers continue pushing boundaries, delivering increasingly impressive electric performance. The latest example comes from Mercedes-AMG, which is reportedly planning an AMG version of the GLC EQ for 2026.

Triple Motors and Record-Breaking Power

Based on the standard GLC EQ, the AMG variant is expected to feature its own unique technical components. According to Autocar, it will use several elements from the AMG.EA powertrain, first showcased in the GT XX prototype that produced a staggering 1,341 hp. The AMG GLC is expected to feature three axial-flow electric motors–one on the front axle and two on the rear–delivering over 900 hp combined. This nearly doubles the output of the standard GLC 400 4Matic, which produces 490 hp.

Performance Figures That Impress

If confirmed, the AMG GLC would become the third most powerful AMG model ever and the most potent SUV in Mercedes-Benz history–surpassed only in 2027 by the upcoming SUV GT with 1,000 hp. Anonymous sources suggest a 0-100 km/h sprint in under 3 seconds, while top speed will be electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Advanced Battery Technology

Battery technology plays a crucial role in the AMG GLC’s performance. Unlike the prism-shaped cells in the standard GLC EQ, the AMG variant will use cylindrical cells, offering higher power density and improved thermal performance. Charging capabilities are also enhanced, with the high-performance SUV supporting up to 400 kW, compared to 330 kW for the standard GLC EQ.

Emotional Driving Experience

Beyond raw numbers, Mercedes-AMG is also focusing on the emotional side of driving. The AMG GLC is expected to feature simulated gear shifts and a sound generator mimicking a V8 engine melody, adding the iconic AMG soundtrack to this all-electric powerhouse. With over 900 hp, triple motors, and cutting-edge tech, the AMG GLC EQ promises to redefine the high-performance electric SUV segment.
