Mercedes-Benz GLC EQ 2026: the electric SUV aiming to dominate the premium segment
The new German electric SUV arrives with more range, more power and more technology than ever, becoming one of the brand’s key launches for 2026.

A generational leap that marks Mercedes-Benz’s future
The new Mercedes-Benz GLC EQ was one of the standout stars at the 2025 Munich Motor Show, an event where the three-pointed star demonstrated that its electric roadmap is accelerating rapidly. Mercedes replaces the current EQC with a larger, more efficient and far better-built SUV, logical considering that the GLC is the brand’s best-selling model worldwide. Positioned in the most competitive premium segment on the market, this new EQ arrives to lead a category where direct rivals –Audi, BMW and Porsche– won’t make it easy.
Technology and design: the debut of the ‘Iconic Grille’
Inside the article, one detail stands out: the introduction of the new ‘Iconic Grille’, a fully enclosed front panel exclusive to Mercedes’ electric range. This is complemented by a new full-width rear light bar and an aerodynamically optimised design. Under the floor lies a 94 kWh NMC battery offering 700 km of range, supported by an 800-V architecture enabling ultra-fast charging at up to 330 kW, even surpassing benchmarks such as the Audi E-tron GT and Porsche Taycan. The line-up will include five power levels, starting with the GLC 400 EQ producing 483 hp with all-wheel drive.
A revolutionary and fully vegan interior

If the exterior is striking, the cabin is a true generational leap. The GLC EQ debuts the 39.1-inch Hyperscreen, the largest display ever installed in a Mercedes, stretching across almost the entire dashboard. In addition, the brand is offering for the first time a 100% vegan interior package certified by the Vegan Society, a first in the German premium segment. Multi-link suspension on both axles, optional air suspension and rear-wheel steering –reducing the turning radius to 11.2 metres– complete a setup focused on both efficiency and comfort.
Global production and confirmed launch for 2026
The Mercedes-Benz GLC EQ will be built in Bremen, with additional support from Hungary and China, as part of the MB.EA platform that will underpin future electric models within the group. As expected from a cutting-edge SUV, it features an extensive suite of driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, speed-limit detection and the standout “transparent bonnet” function for off-road driving. Mercedes has confirmed that the model will go on sale in early 2026, with pricing announced later this year and expected to be considerably higher than the combustion-powered GLC and outgoing EQC.
A strong contender to rule the premium electric SUV segment
The GLC EQ is more than just a new model: it’s the opening move in Mercedes-Benz’s most ambitious electric strategy to date, aimed at regaining ground from Tesla and reinforcing its historic leadership over BMW and Audi. With more range, more power, more luxury and more technology, the new GLC EQ already stands as one of the most anticipated electric SUVs of 2026.
