EBRO S400 2027: the facelift that redefines Spain’s urban SUV for global success
The evolution of the EBRO S400 is already underway, and its international leap begins in South America, where its Chinese twin – the Chery Tiggo 5X 2026 – previews the upcoming design, interior and technology of the Spanish model.

The facelift becomes an international reality
The recently launched EBRO S400, the urban SUV that the Spanish brand builds on Chery’s platforms, is receiving a major update sooner than expected. The Chinese manufacturer has unveiled the refreshed Tiggo 5X 2026, introduced for the first time at the São Paulo Motor Show, and this reveal serves as a direct preview of what we can expect from the future S400 2027 in Europe. The new design language now aligns with the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8, clearly signalling EBRO’s move toward a more mature and high-tech aesthetic.
On the outside, the SUV gains sleeker full-LED headlights, a redesigned gloss-black grille with chrome accents, and a more sculpted front bumper. At the rear, the bumper becomes bulkier, while the characteristic faux third side window remains, helping visually elongate the body. It’s a solid set of updates aimed at elevating overall perceived quality–one of the areas with room for improvement in the current model.
A completely revamped interior

Inside, the technological leap forward is undeniable. The cabin now features a 20.5-inch panoramic dual-screen setup, combining the digital instrument cluster and the multimedia system. The steering wheel receives new controls, while the centre console continues to offer convenient wireless charging. Mechanically, nothing changes in its core configuration: independent suspension on both axles – MacPherson at the front and multi-link at the rear – progressive electric power steering, and four-wheel disc brakes, a setup that has been one of the S400’s strong points in Spain.
More powertrain options and a global focus
For Brazil, the Tiggo 5X will be offered with a 1.5 TCI bifuel engine, producing 150 hp when running on ethanol and 147 hp on petrol, paired with a CVT gearbox featuring nine simulated gears. A hybrid version will also be available, although EBRO has not yet confirmed which powertrains will arrive in Spain. Currently, the Spanish model uses a 211 hp hybrid system, but the brand has not revealed whether it will be retained or upgraded.
Spain will have to wait until 2027
The updated Chery Tiggo 5X is scheduled to hit the Brazilian market in early 2026, but its Spanish counterpart, the EBRO S400 2027, remains unconfirmed. All signs suggest that the European model will adopt most of the changes seen in the Chinese version, though official information is still pending. What is clear, however, is that EBRO is preparing an ambitious facelift to strengthen its position in the highly competitive urban SUV segment.
