Toyota Sets the Date for the Highly Anticipated Yaris Cross: The New Compact Hybrid SUV
The Toyota Yaris Cross will make its official debut on November 22 at the 2025 São Paulo Motor Show, marking a milestone in the brand’s accessible electrification strategy.

A Long-Awaited Launch After Multiple Delays
After months of speculation and postponements, Toyota confirmed the date and location for the Yaris Cross debut, scheduled for November 22 in São Paulo. Initially planned for March and then July, the launch was delayed due to construction at the Sorocaba plant and storm damage at the Porto Feliz engine factory, which temporarily required importing some units.
Local Production and a Focus on Electrification
The Yaris Cross will be produced in Sorocaba, reinforcing Toyota’s industrial strategy in Brazil. The lineup includes a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and a hybrid flex option, designed to deliver low fuel consumption, reduced emissions, and higher energy efficiency. This hybrid variant is positioned below the Corolla Hybrid, offering a more affordable entry point into Toyota’s electrified family.
An SUV Filling a Gap in the Lineup
The arrival of the Yaris Cross addresses a strategic realignment of Toyota’s product range, aiming to make it the entry-level vehicle in the electrified lineup. Its compact and efficient design targets drivers seeking an urban SUV with low fuel consumption and Toyota’s proven hybrid technology.
Expected Sales and Market Outlook
Although Toyota has not confirmed the exact commercial launch date, sales are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026 in Brazil. Interest is high, particularly in the hybrid version, which promises very competitive fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, positioning the Yaris Cross as a key player in the compact SUV market in Latin America.
