Toyota unveils a bold Corolla concept that combines futuristic design and potential electric variants ahead of its 2026 launch.

Toyota surprised the world with the new Corolla Concept during a live broadcast from Japan, alongside other models like the six-wheel Lexus LS minivan and the Century coupe. Although officially a concept, details such as side mirrors and production-ready finishes suggest it is very close to entering the market.

Bold design and potential electrification

One of the most striking elements is the fender-mounted cover, strongly indicating a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version. While a fully electric variant is also possible, it is likely Toyota will maintain a combustion engine option, given that the Corolla is the best-selling model in history and the brand still values traditional engines alongside electrified versions.

The design features pixelated daytime running lights, a ducktail-style rear spoiler, and a descending beltline near the A-pillar, conveying a sportier and bolder aesthetic than current generations. The short hood suggests a potential electric platform, though Toyota has hinted at a new ultra-compact four-cylinder engine, leaving open the possibility of a hybrid or combustion variant.

The full reveal will take place at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, starting October 29, promising all technical details and model variants. For now, the Corolla Concept signals a striking new design direction for one of the most iconic vehicles in history, combining innovation, boldness, and electrification potential.

With this concept, Toyota shows that even a decades-old model can reinvent itself and look toward the future, offering technology, style, and sustainability while retaining the essence that made it a global benchmark.
