The V8 Returns with a Discount: Jeep Launches the 470 HP Wrangler Moab 392, $20,000 Cheaper Than Its Predecessor

Jeep celebrates its 85th anniversary by resurrecting the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine in a limited-edition Wrangler. The Moab 392 maintains 470 HP and offers a starting price of $81,990, significantly lower than last year’s model.

The 470 HP HEMI V8 Stays

Jeep had previously reassured enthusiasts by confirming that the V8 engine would not die after 2025. Now, the promise materializes with the launch of the limited-edition 2026 Wrangler Moab 392. CEO Bob Broderdorf stated: “Our community made their voices heard, and we listened”.

The heart of the Moab 392 remains the 6.4-liter V8 engine (392 cubic inches). This engine delivers the same 470 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. In addition to the engine, the off-road SUV features a two-mode exhaust system and a cold-air intake with a water separator.

Exclusive Equipment and Aggressive Discount

The technical equipment is designed for pure off-road use. It includes 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a 4.56 axle ratio, and the Selec-Track 2.72:1 full-time transfer case.

Aesthetically, the Moab 392 stands out with a body-color hardtop and fender flares, black tow hooks, and rock rails. The interior is premium with heated black Nappa leather-trimmed seats and an Alpine audio system. Technology centers around a 12.3-inch infotainment display.

The Moab 392 will be the first of 12 limited-run Wranglers that Jeep is launching to commemorate its 85th anniversary. It also introduces the new deep-purple Reign color, along with other limited-edition colors like Goldilocks and Tuscadero. A new standard feature on all Wranglers is the “enhanced door hinge system” to quicken the door removal process.

The price is the big surprise. The Moab 392 starts at $81,990 (including the destination charge). This is a full $20,000 cheaper than the 2025 Wrangler 392. Order books are open now, and production is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
