The Fox Body Mustang Returns Wilder Than Ever: 800 HP of Modern Nostalgia

By  |

Velocity has unveiled at the SEMA Show the world’s first production “Fox Body” restomod – a tribute to the legendary 1990s Mustang that blends classic design with cutting-edge engineering and craftsmanship.

The unmistakable silhouette of the 1991 Mustang LX roars back to life thanks to Velocity, the renowned restomod builder that has redefined what automotive heritage can look like in the 21st century. Presented at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, this model is celebrated as the first production Fox Body restomod, combining retro charm with modern technology to perfection.

The car has been rebuilt from the ground up on a Roadster Shop SPEC chassis and features a bold Jet Black exterior, a two-inch cowl hood, and Carter’s Customs side splitters. Completing the setup are 18-inch billet wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, along with a six-piston Baer braking system to ensure absolute control under any condition.

Classic Inside, Modern at Heart

Inside, the Mustang’s cabin keeps its unmistakable character while reaching supercar-level refinement. The dashboard has been completely redesigned and now houses Autometer and Dakota Digital gauges, while the heated Recaro Expert M seats and Sparc steering wheel add a contemporary performance touch. Luxury details include an Alcantara headliner, a custom center console, and bespoke door panels. Comfort is guaranteed thanks to the Vintage Air climate control system and a Blaupunkt Frankfurt head unit paired with a Focal audio setup, turning this Mustang into a time capsule that merges classic driving passion with modern comfort and precision.

Under the Hood: An 800-HP Beast

Powering this reborn legend is a Ford Performance 5.0-liter Coyote V8, fitted with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger that pushes output to a staggering 800 rear-wheel horsepower (811 PS). Power is channeled through a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 9-inch rear end, while a carbon fiber driveshaft reduces weight and improves responsiveness. This combination transforms the Fox Body into a true performance monster, capable of rivaling today’s top supercars while keeping its pure, analog driving spirit intact – something that resonates deeply with enthusiasts of all generations.

A Limited Edition with Future Ambitions

While Velocity describes this unit as a one-of-a-kind “halo vehicle,” the company has already confirmed plans to include it in its Signature Series lineup starting in 2026, alongside the 1967–68 Mustang, classic Ford trucks, and the International Scout. Pricing remains undisclosed, but given that Signature Series builds start at around $200,000, it’s safe to say this modernized Fox Body Mustang will be an exclusive creation – one that celebrates both the nostalgia of the past and the innovation of the future, captivating every automotive enthusiast who hears its roar.
