By  |

Volkswagen celebrates half a century of GTI history with a special model. It is the most powerful ever built, breaking records at Nürburgring and offering an extreme Performance package.

Volkswagen commemorates nearly fifty years of history of its most legendary sports car: the GTI. The brand is launching a special edition that marks a new milestone in the saga: the Golf GTI 50th Anniversary. This model becomes the most potent and fastest GTI in the entire range to date. With this, Volkswagen shows that the GTI spirit is more alive than ever and that the hot hatch remains an unavoidable benchmark in the compact sports segment.

Record Power and Competition Dynamics

The new Golf GTI 50th Anniversary develops an impressive figure of 325 HP. This represents 25 horsepower more than the GTI Clubsport. The suspension has been lowered 15 mm compared to the conventional Golf, ensuring a lower center of gravity. The chassis features a MacPherson front axle and a multi-link rear axle. The adaptive suspension control DCC comes standard. From the factory, it is fitted with 19-inch “Queenstown Red” wheels, a nod to the GTI legacy.

The Performance Package That Delivers at Nürburgring

For enthusiasts seeking maximum performance, Volkswagen offers the “GTI 50th Anniversary” Performance package. This option elevates the sporting character to another level. It includes Bridgestone Potenza Race semi-slick tires and forged “Warmenau Black” wheels. It also adds an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system. With the package, the chassis is lowered another 5 mm, with a front camber adjusted to -2°. These upgrades reduce the total weight by about 30 kilos. Driver Benjamin Leuchter demonstrated its potential by achieving a record lap time of 7:46.13 minutes at Nürburgring.

Nostalgia and Modernity: Exclusive Design

The Golf GTI 50th Anniversary merges the nostalgia of the first generations with current modernity. The sports seats upholstered with the tartan design in dark green tones evoke the original GTI. The seat belts are red, and the ArtVelours microfiber-wrapped steering wheel features the “GTI 50” emblem. On the exterior, the car incorporates GTI 50 logos on the spoiler and side mirrors. Also notable are the gloss black details and a black-red gradient side strip that accentuates its dynamic profile.

The base price for Europe is 56,980 euros. The Performance package, which guarantees record performance, has an additional cost of 4,315 euros. The first deliveries are scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
