The Epicore from Pichler Nutzfahrzeuge is a 4×4 camper prepared for everything

Based on a Fiat Ducato chassis, it adapts to customers who love mountain sports.

We’re in the middle of the weekend, and it’s always a good moment to discover models designed to help us enjoy our free time. Vehicles that allow us to combine, in many cases, our outdoor hobbies–such as mountain biking or skiing–with relaxing time in the middle of the mountains, for example. And in this sense, the Epicore from the specialist Pichler Nutzfahrzeuge represents the ideal combination.

We’re talking about a 4×4 camper van based on a Fiat Ducato chassis adapted to off-road conditions, allowing us to reach our destination no matter how remote it may be. Additionally, the large interior cargo capacity lets you spend the night, prepare meals, and use the rear section as a small garage or workshop to repair mountain bikes or dirt bikes.

The large silhouette of the Epicore makes it clear that inside there is enough space for four occupants to “survive” for a few days far from civilization, and that includes sleeping, eating and washing autonomously. If you look at the images in the gallery, you’ll notice there are no major luxuries inside nor expensive furniture. Everything is focused on practicality rather than on a “pretty appearance.”

At 6.40 meters long, the Epicore Van is actually quite a bit shorter than the longest camper vans on the market. However, it is mainly its 2.25-meter width, its closed height of 3.30 meters, and its gross weight of 7 tons that make it look much larger than the rest of the camper vans.

As we mentioned, the strong point of the Epicore Van compared to camper vans, compact motorhomes or expedition trucks is found at the rear. Instead of a solid wall or the typical double doors, Pichler installs a folding rear tailgate, which also serves as a loading platform.

The inside of the door has rows of mounting rails that allow bicycles and other equipment to be installed vertically inside the van. The rear tailgate, with a load capacity of 750 kg, opens and closes using an electro-hydraulic lift.

If you plan to use the Epicore for mountain biking, you can store your helmets, protective gear, bike tools, clothing and cycling shoes all in one place, making it easier to get ready and head out. The space even works as a protected workshop for repairing and adjusting the bikes.

But there’s more, because that area also houses the washing space. There is a shower to clean equipment, boots and the occupants, and a drainage floor beneath a rubber mat. The dry toilet by Boxio slides out from a compartment located at the bottom of the wardrobe console, and an electric roll-up partition separates the space from the main living area at the push of a button.

The kitchen includes a sink, a 70-liter refrigerator, a portable induction cooktop stored away, and a recessed tray for utensils above the countertop. Pichler decided not to fix the cooktop so campers could also take the portable induction unit outside to cook outdoors.

Finally, Pichler Nutzfahrzeuge does not offer official information about the price. The final amount depends heavily on the options chosen by the customer, but to give you an idea, the average cost may be around 390,000 euros. A very high amount, certainly, but you can’t deny the powerful presence and multifunctional interior of the Epicore.
