Renault Unveils its 2026 Strategy: The Electric Return of the Twingo and the Hybrid Expansion of the Clio

By  |

The diamond brand, despite a year with changes in its leadership, is consolidating its electric and thermal offensive for 2026.

Renault concluded a successful 2025, despite a turbulent start to the year due to the unexpected resignation of its director Luca de Meo. François Provost replaced de Meo this summer. The success is thanks to the debut of the Twingo E-Tech and the start of the Clio‘s commercialization. Furthermore, the brand produced 100,000 units of the R5 E-Tech in just 15 months of its trajectory.

The Renault Clio VI is already on sale starting from €18,900 after its revelation at the last Munich Motor Show. The first customer deliveries will be formalized at the beginning of 2026. The new utility vehicle is offered with various mechanics adapted to different uses. Diesel says goodbye to the range. The thermal offering now focuses on the 115 hp 1.2 TCe gasoline engine, paired with a manual transmission. There is also a full hybrid E-Tech option of 160 combined hp, which guarantees the Eco label. Later, the Clio VI will also have a bifuel (gasoline and GLP) engine called ECO-G 120. This version will be available with a manual gearbox or a dual-clutch EDC automatic. The range is structured around three trim levels: Evolution, Techno, and esprit Alpine.

The Electric Rebirth and the Projection of Future Models

The Twingo will return in style in 2026 after saying goodbye in 2024, when the last unit of the third generation left the factory. This time the model will be completely electric and will feature a very attractive retro look. The new French urban car was revealed on November 8, adopting the aesthetic codes of the first generation. Its presentation came after an initial concept car at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, which previewed the street car.

The Twingo E-Tech Electric is assembled from the AmpR Small platform, which it shares with its electric ‘siblings’, the Renault 5 and the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric. The vehicle is equipped with an electric motor of 82 hp and a small 27.5 kWh battery. With this configuration, the Twingo announces a range of 263 km (WTLP). Prices in Italy start from €19,500 cash, a figure that will be very similar in Spain.

Although Renault has not officially announced other models for 2026, the brand could commercialize a 4×4 version of the new Renault 4 E-Tech Electric next year. The Renault 4 Savane 4×4 concept previewed this version last spring. Additionally, we can predict the restyling of the Renault Megane E-Tech in the first half of 2026. In principle, we will have to wait until 2027 for the presentation and commercialization of the third generation of the Captur.
