Renault Sells 100 Historical ‘Duplicates’: Auction of Collector Cars and F1 Monoposts

By  |

The French brand is rationalizing its heritage before opening its new museum. A unique opportunity to acquire pieces with a Zero Emission Label.

If you are a collector, this is your chance to get a unique piece of history. An extraordinary auction will be held on December 7th. Therefore, the event will take place in the historic center of Flins-sur-Seine. The event is dedicated to 100 models from the Renault Collection. In addition, a selection of objects, prototypes, and memorabilia will be auctioned. All this is linked to the brand’s more than 125 years of innovation and competition.

Formula 1 Monoposts and Iconic Classics

The auction is organized with the Artcurial Motorcars house. This initiative anticipates the opening of the brand’s new Les Collections Museum. This museum will bring together all the historical heritage of the French firm starting in 2027. Renault decided to rationalize the collection. It will conserve 600 unique examples and put the “duplicates” up for sale. The brand ensures it keeps at least one of each historical model. Consequently, more than 90% of the lots will be sold without a reserve price.

The selection covers all of Renault’s eras. It includes its origins, with the 1901 Type D, up to the world of competition. Precisely, competition highlights about twenty Formula 1 monoposts from the Turbo era (1981-1985). Even the legendary RE40, winner at Spa with Alain Prost, will be available. Likewise, endurance racing has its place with the famous Le Mans Alpine A442. Finally, rallies are represented by the Maxi Turbo 5 prototype B0.

More Than Cars: Models and Rare Objects

The most emblematic production cars from Renault are also present. Units of the 4CV, the popular R5, the coveted Clio Williams, and the elegant Floride are being auctioned. Concept cars and Alpine models, such as the A610 Evolution, will also be for sale. Similarly, collectors can acquire unusual objects.

Wind tunnel models and Formula 1 engines will be auctioned. Furthermore, driver helmets and racing suits can be purchased. Finally, curious pieces such as the ‘Reinastella’ flying saucer or the Bodet industrial clock from the factory are offered. This is, without a doubt, an unmissable event for collectors of French automotive history.
