Volvo tiene planes muy ambiciosos, pero en estados Unidos sus ventas en los últimos años no llegan a las 100.000 unidades al año, desde los máximos 139.067 que tuvo en el 2004.
Quizás y soplando un poco y con incentivos (como el que le ofrecen a mi amigo en California), lleguen a 100.000 unidades este año, con sólo un 0.58% de cuota del mercado, es decir que no corta ni pincha en los Estados Unidos, ni cerca de los más de 300.000 que venden Mercedes Benz o BMW.
Volvo ha tenido planes muy ambiciosos últimamente. La automotriz Sueca de propiedad China, pretender eliminar todas las muertes y lesiones graves en sus autos nuevos y harán que todos sus autos sean eléctricos o hÃbridos muy pronto.
Pero hay algo que nunca surge cuando se habla de los Volvo, y es su baja confiabilidad y su pésimo valor de reventa.
Entonces, qué tan fiables son los Volvo?
J.D Power los ha clasificado como promedio en todas las categorÃas en su más reciente estudio de confiabilidad de vehÃculos.

Nosotros nos enamoramos de una marca. Caso las mujeres con los Jaguars en los 80, donde sus mejores amigos eran sus mecánicos. Pero estos autos no tenÃan tecnologÃa y eran más sencillos de arreglar que los Jaguar de hoy.
Si vamos a las bajas clasificaciones de confiabilidad de los Volvos, su magro valor de reventa, su baja y dura incomodidad en sus asientos y sus problemas eléctricos al tiempo de usarlo, tenemos un auto que vende su seguridad a un alto precio, cuando los sistemas de seguridad están llegando en cada uno de sus competidores y a menor precio.
En los 70 y 80’s los Volvos eran tanques Suecos, pero ya no lo son, y hoy muchos de ellos están hechos en China por su propietario Geely Motors, y con tanta nueva tecnologÃa que ni los mismos mecánicos de los concesionarios pueden con ella, no es muy recomendable que se fije en un Volvo, salvo que este enamorado de la marca y la consiga a precio de remate.
