On the occasion of Monterey Car Week in California, Automobili Lamborghini presents a unique Aventador S interpreted by the art of Skyler Grey, the young American artist considered the rising star of world street art.

The one-off Aventador S by Skyler Grey symbolizes the fusion of two artistic concepts: on one hand the automotive art of Lamborghini, where the unique design form, always characterized by taut lines, three-dimensional volumes, and geometries and stylistic elements of the past is combined with groundbreaking technological solutions; on the other hand, the art of Skyler Grey. At just 19 years old Skyler has been called the “Fresh Prince of Street Art†and his iconographic pop style has often brought him comparisons to artists the likes of Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. He is the youngest artist to have his work exhibited in museums and international art fairs, and he was named in the 2017 Forbes “30 under 30†list of the most influential artists worldwide.

Katia Bassi, Chief Marketing & Communication Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, commented:“Because of the affinity we feel with the world of art, we wanted to experiment with a new creative approach, entrusting Skyler Grey with the interpretation of a car that is already itself a work of art. It is a project connected with our new paint shop in Sant’Agata Bolognese, a place where technology and art meet and where our specialists are tasked with turning our customers’ dreams into reality, in the search for aesthetic perfection.â€

Delivered to the artist as if it were a blank canvas, the car was painted in the new Lamborghini paint shop just recently inaugurated in Sant’Agata Bolognese. The creative process, which lasted nearly a year, along with three weeks in the paint shop, was carried out in collaboration with an interfunctional team of technologists and specialists in painting, logistics, assembly and quality, who were involved in the project from the feasibility phase right through the production process. Despite the high level of complexity of the work, with the support of the team the artist has brought to life the first street-legal work of art on four wheels.

Skyler Grey used the main techniques of street art, including airbrushes, spray guns, rollers and stencils, to personalize the car body in his typical pop style in orange and yellow. The orange base color, Arancio Atlas (orange), was the canvas on which Grey expressed all his creativity in interpreting the Lamborghini trademark. The exterior parts are enlivened with bold, irregular brushstrokes in yellow, dark orange and white, interspersed with splashes of color and paint dripped onto the surface using the drip painting technique. The body, thus characterized by the alternating of three colors, was then animated by stylized images of bulls running along the side, depicted emerging from the air intakes in a race and from the iconicCampbell’ssoupcan, as a reference to Warhol’s“32 Campbell’s Soup Cansâ€.

Like at the bottom of any artist’s canvas, Skyler Grey’s signature appears on the bodywork accompanied by the unmistakable lightning bolt above his name, confirming the authenticity and uniqueness of this work of art. The interiors, in Nero Ade (black) leather with contrasting orange stitching, are personalized on the rear panel with an embroidered image of a cartoon bull, situated between spots of colored paint with a splash effect. The artist’s design for the bull was entrusted to the artistic embroidery skills of Lamborghini’s upholstery specialists.

The Aventador S by Skyler Grey, purchased by an art collector, will be the first Lamborghini to be certified via innovative blockchain technology.

The car is part of the pilot project “Lamborghini Sicuraâ€, launched in collaboration with Salesforce and aimed at protecting the car as a work of art. It involves a process of authenticity certification, which makes use of Salesforce Blockchain technology to guarantee data security and incorruptibility. The protection system aims to prevent counterfeiting; to trace and certify all the information related to the model; and at the same time favor an increase of value for all the stakeholders.

The Aventador S by Skyler Grey is on display from August 15-18 2019 at The Lamborghini Lounge Monterey, a ocean-view villa in an exclusive and privileged position, situated at the famous 18thhole of the Pebble Beach Golf Course in Monterey.

The concept of the space is inspired by art in its various forms and was designed according to the motto “Created to Inspireâ€. The private villa is conceived as the home of an art collector and Lamborghini fan, where guests are taken on an experiential journey in an environment where the world of Lamborghini art and design, blend together in perfect harmony under the banner of art.

Lamborghini is represented by a display of the newest models, in interactive areas dedicated to the creative process of their design and to their personalization, all in an intimate, friendly and informal atmosphere. The artists invited to enliven the lounge, in addition to Skyler Grey with the Lamborghini he has interpreted and his most famous works, include Italian artist Alfredo Sannoner, a master calligrapher, with his italic art and search for beauty and perfection in writing.

Piastri Reveals Norris Apology After McLaren Sprint Crash

Published

on

Oscar Piastri says Lando Norris apologized after their Singapore Sprint collision, but admits McLaren still lacks the pace to challenge its rivals.

McLaren faced a difficult weekend at the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix after its drivers collided during the Sprint. Oscar Piastri confirmed that Lando Norris apologized for the incident, while also questioning whether the risky move was necessary. Despite the damage, the Australian insists the team has moved on.

Piastri Accepts Norris’ Apology After the Collision

The incident happened on the final lap of the Singapore Sprint. Norris attempted to overtake Piastri on the inside of Turn 5, but the two McLaren cars made contact.

Piastri and Norris collided while fighting for position on the final lap of the Singapore Sprint.

Piastri suffered significant damage and retired, while Norris continued to finish eighth. The stewards investigated the collision but issued no penalties, ruling that both drivers contributed to the incident.

Piastri made it clear that the team could not afford another situation like this. He pointed to the lost points, repair costs and additional workload created by the crash.

“The most important thing is that we simply cannot allow that to happen again,” Piastri explained. He confirmed that Norris apologized and that they had agreed to move forward.

The Australian also acknowledged that this was not the first time the teammates had made contact. However, he believes their ability to apologize and resolve disagreements remains an important strength within McLaren.

Piastri Questions Whether Norris Needed to Attack

Piastri’s main concern was the context of the overtake. With little to gain from the move, he felt the risk of contact was difficult to justify.

The collision left Piastri’s McLaren heavily damaged and ended his Sprint race.

The Australian said the difference in points between the available finishing positions was not significant enough to warrant such a risky move. He also avoided criticizing the stewards for their decision to share responsibility.

Piastri suggested that neither driver would benefit from trying to get the other penalized. Instead, he emphasized the importance of resolving the situation internally.

He also ruled out any immediate changes to McLaren’s internal racing guidelines, commonly known as the papaya rules. According to Piastri, the circumstances differ from those the team faced during the previous season.

The message was clear: Norris’ apology was accepted, but McLaren needs to avoid unnecessary contact, especially when both cars are fighting for valuable championship points.

McLaren Admits It Lacks the Pace to Challenge Red Bull

The collision was not McLaren’s only problem in Singapore. Piastri qualified seventh for the Grand Prix, two places behind Norris, and admitted that the team still lacks the performance needed to compete consistently with its fastest rivals.

McLaren continues working to understand its performance deficit against its rivals.

Piastri said the team struggled to match its previous pace. Even with cleaner laps, he believed McLaren would have finished around Norris’ position.

The Australian also acknowledged that Red Bull had made significant progress following its upgrades in Baku. He expects the team to remain a serious benchmark, while Ferrari’s characteristics could make it particularly competitive at a circuit like Singapore.

McLaren believes it is beginning to understand the problems affecting its performance. However, Piastri stressed that identifying the causes is only the first step. The team still needs to turn that knowledge into improvements on track.

Despite the disappointing Sprint and qualifying result, Piastri insisted the collision with Norris was an isolated incident. Both drivers have accepted what happened, and McLaren is now focused on improving its performance and avoiding further costly mistakes.

Honda Hybrid System Debuts in 2027 With 15 Models Planned

Published

on

Honda’s next-generation hybrid technology promises lower weight, better efficiency and new all-wheel-drive options, with 15 models planned by 2030.

Honda is preparing a major expansion of its hybrid lineup. The automaker has revealed the name of its next-generation system, Honda Hybrid, along with plans to introduce the technology across 15 models by the end of March 2030.

Honda Hybrid Promises Better Efficiency

The new system will use a redesigned vehicle platform engineered to reduce weight while improving structural rigidity. Honda says its approach to body engineering should also improve cornering behavior and road-holding performance.

Honda’s Hybrid Sedan prototype previews the direction of its next-generation hybrid lineup.

Honda has also redesigned the drive unit and expanded the engine’s high-efficiency operating range. These changes are intended to improve fuel economy without sacrificing the driving experience.

The new platform will also support a newly developed all-wheel-drive system. Honda has not yet disclosed detailed specifications, but the technology could help extend hybrid powertrains across a wider range of vehicles.

Two-Motor Hybrids and New AWD Technology

Honda’s existing hybrid technology pairs a gasoline engine with two electric motors. The next generation is expected to build on this configuration for models such as the Civic, Accord and CR-V.

Honda’s two-motor hybrid architecture is expected to remain central to its next-generation passenger cars.

A prototype of the next-generation Civic Hybrid previously featured a 2.0-liter engine, two electric motors and a new battery. Honda has not confirmed that every component will carry over unchanged to production vehicles.

Larger models could receive a different setup. Honda has discussed a V6 hybrid powertrain with a third electric motor on the rear axle for all-wheel-drive applications. This configuration could suit SUVs and other vehicles that require more power and traction.

Honda’s next-generation hybrid strategy could extend to more SUVs and larger vehicles.

Honda Plans 15 Hybrid Models by 2030

The new Honda Hybrid system is scheduled to begin appearing in production vehicles in 2027. By the end of March 2030, Honda plans to launch 15 models equipped with the technology, with most intended for North America.

The Civic, Accord and CR-V are natural candidates for the rollout. Honda’s luxury division, Acura, is also preparing a hybrid RDX, while larger vehicles such as the Pilot, Passport, Ridgeline and Acura MDX could eventually receive hybrid powertrains.

Honda has not confirmed the full model list or the specifications of every future powertrain. For now, the strategy signals a broader commitment to hybrids as the company pursues improved efficiency and expands electrified options across its lineup.

Honda Hybrid will begin its next chapter in 2027, with the goal of bringing more efficient powertrains to a much wider selection of vehicles.

Street Fighter II’s Lexus LS Bonus-Stage Car Becomes Reality

Published

on

The iconic video game car returns as a real-life creation, complete with pixelated paint, arcade details and a cash prize.

The legendary car-smashing challenge from Street Fighter II is coming to life. The luxury sedan from the game’s famous bonus stage has been recreated as a real car, bringing a nostalgic gaming icon onto the road.

In the original game, players could unleash their attacks on a parked vehicle instead of fighting another opponent. Now, fans have the chance to see that familiar car in a completely different form.

The Iconic Car From Street Fighter II

For many players, the bonus stage was one of the most memorable parts of Street Fighter II. The challenge was simple: destroy a car before time ran out. Its resemblance to a Lexus LS 400 made the vehicle especially recognizable, even though the original game car was not officially licensed.

The original bonus stage turned a luxury sedan into a classic piece of video game history.

The scene also has an unusual backstory. The game’s lore describes the destruction as a used-car dealer’s promotional stunt. Another theory connects it to protests against Japanese imports in the United States during the 1980s.

Whatever its origins, the car became a lasting part of gaming culture. Its real-world recreation now gives fans a new way to celebrate that history.

A Real Car With Pixelated Paint

Vehicle Effects, known for building cars for the Fast & Furious film franchise, created the real-life tribute. The team focused on recreating the distinctive look of a vehicle rendered with 16-bit graphics.

The pixel-inspired exterior recreates the distinctive appearance of the original game car.

The custom work continues inside the cabin. The headrests feature embroidered “You Win” lettering, while an arcade-style coin holder replaces the heated-seat controls.

Arcade-inspired details give the interior a playful connection to the original game.

These modifications make the car more than a simple replica. The project combines automotive craftsmanship with the nostalgia of classic arcade gaming.

How to Win the Street Fighter II Car

The real-life Street Fighter II car is being offered through a sweepstakes organized in partnership with The General auto insurance company. The prize includes the customized vehicle and $25,400.69 in cash.

The contest is limited to U.S. residents. Its unusual cash amount adds another playful detail to a project built around a classic gaming moment.

The car’s arrival also coincides with the new live-action Street Fighter movie, scheduled to open on October 16, 2026, according to the supplied information.

In the original game, destroying the car was the objective. This time, one lucky winner will have a very different challenge: keeping the real vehicle in one piece.
