Omoda 4 Ultra: The Chinese hybrid SUV that turns into a sporty beast for 2026

By  |

The Ultra version of the new Omoda 4 promises a more aggressive design, advanced technology, and a clear goal: to become the most appealing urban hybrid SUV on the market.

Chinese manufacturer Omoda has confirmed the arrival of the Omoda 4 Ultra, a sporty-looking variant that takes the model’s design and equipment to the next level. Unveiled during the Omoda Dream Day event, the Ultra not only flaunts a more passionate aesthetic but also boasts top-tier technology, underscoring the brand’s ambition to compete head-to-head with Europe’s leading compact SUVs.

A design that turns heads
The Omoda 4 Ultra elevates the already striking style of the standard model to new heights. It features a unique rear spoiler, a more aggressive front splitter, carbon-fiber-effect mirror caps, and yellow brake calipers that highlight its sporty attitude. There’s also a special “Cyber” badge on the bodywork, symbolizing a bolder, more futuristic identity. Altogether, these elements make the Ultra one of the most distinctive compact SUVs currently on the scene.

Inside, the focus remains firmly on technology and comfort. The Ultra is equipped with a large vertical touchscreen and advanced driver-assistance systems that achieve Level 2+ autonomy, placing it ahead of many of its rivals. Additionally, a specific Ultra driving mode is expected to deliver a more dynamic and personalized driving experience, enhancing its performance credentials.

Mechanically, while no official details have been released, it’s likely that the Omoda 4 Ultra will retain the 211 hp hybrid setup, featuring a 1.5-liter petrol engine that primarily serves as a generator—similar to the system used in the EBRO s400. This configuration ensures solid performance while maintaining the efficiency that defines the new generation of hybrid SUVs.

With an estimated starting price of around €25,000 for the standard Omoda 4, the Ultra is set to arrive in the second half of 2026 with a slightly higher price tag, in line with its sportier nature. The real question is whether it will offer more than just a bold exterior and deliver a truly enhanced driving setup. For now, one thing is certain: Omoda has succeeded in generating serious buzz with a model that’s poised to make waves in the competitive hybrid SUV market.
