New Toyota Aygo X Cross 2026: Hybrid with ECO Label, GR SPORT Trim and 7 cm More Length

By  |

Toyota refreshes its popular city car with a bolder look, a more powerful hybrid engine and a new sporty trim designed to shake up the segment.

A restyling that completely changes the game

The new Toyota Aygo X Cross 2026 has just revealed its pricing and arrives with a comprehensive aesthetic and technical overhaul. The bonnet, headlights, bumpers, grille and the range of colours and alloy wheels have all been redesigned. Inside, the model gains updated instrumentation, revised controls, and a significantly upgraded equipment list, improving perceived quality across the board.

Toyota has also introduced the GR SPORT trim for the first time in this model and replaced the petrol engine with a more powerful hybrid powertrain, switching from the “C” emissions label to the ECO badge. Thanks to this change, the Aygo X Cross becomes a more versatile and efficient option for both city driving and short trips beyond the urban core.

More hybrid power and a larger body

Technically, the new Aygo X Cross Hybrid delivers a combined 116 hp, paired with an e-CVT automatic transmission. To accommodate this hybrid system, the body grows by 7 centimetres, reaching a total length of 3.77 metres, while maintaining the 231-litre boot. Performance figures are impressive for the segment: 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds and a top speed of 172 km/h, with fuel consumption between 3.8 and 3.9 l/100 km, depending on the trim level.

A complete range with generous equipment

The line-up is structured into four trims: Play, Like, Chic and GR SPORT. Even the base version comes well equipped, offering six airbags, automatic climate control, 7-inch digital instrumentation, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 9-inch touchscreen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electric mirrors and a leather multifunction steering wheel.

In terms of safety, this city car with a touch of SUV styling includes lane keeping assist, automatic high beams, a rear-view camera, adaptive cruise control (ACC), driver fatigue detection, traffic sign recognition and a pre-collision system as standard.

Competitive pricing against urban rivals

The new Toyota Aygo X Cross 2026 starts at €20,900 with promotions, just €1,000 less than the Toyota Yaris Active Plus hybrid with the same power output. With this aggressive positioning, Toyota is putting serious pressure on rivals such as the Fiat 500 2026, Fiat Panda, Hyundai i10 and Kia Picanto 2026, in an urban segment that’s becoming increasingly technological and electrified.
