New Lexus RZ 2026: Powertrains and Range of the Electric SUV Aiming to Challenge the Tesla Model Y

The Japanese brand updates its premium electric SUV with a comprehensive facelift, technical upgrades, a new F SPORT trim and a more competitive range than ever before.

A facelift that raises the bar

The new Lexus RZ 2026 is now available in Spain, debuting with a refreshed design, the introduction of the sporty F SPORT trim, and a series of technical improvements that allow it to compete head-to-head with the segment’s key players. This luxury SUV takes direct aim at rivals such as the BMW iX3 2026, Mercedes-Benz GLC EV, Audi Q6 e-tron, Porsche Macan Electric and, of course, the Tesla Model Y, its main commercial target.

Among the most notable upgrades are a steer-by-wire system that promises a more precise and fluid driving experience, and a simulated gearshift system designed to enhance driver engagement. Lexus has also fine-tuned the suspension and acoustic insulation, bringing overall comfort to an even higher level.

Three powertrain options and a 77 kWh battery

The updated RZ range is built around three powertrains. The entry-level RZ 350e delivers 165 kW (224 hp) through front-wheel drive, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, reaches 160 km/h, and offers up to 568 km of WLTP-certified range.

Above it sits the RZ 500e, equipped with all-wheel drive and producing 280 kW (381 hp). It cuts the 0–100 km/h sprint to 4.6 seconds and hits 180 km/h, with a range of 456 km. The flagship RZ 550e, also AWD with dual motors, generates 300 kW (408 hp), accelerates in 4.4 seconds, and delivers 450 km on a single charge.

All variants use a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery. Charging is possible at 22 kW AC (around 3.5 hours) or up to 150 kW DC, reaching 80% capacity in approximately 30 minutes.

Premium interior and advanced technology

The new RZ continues Lexus’s hallmark focus on luxury and refinement. Buyers can choose from four trims: e-Premium, e-Executive, e-Luxury and F SPORT. Even the base model comes well equipped with eight airbags, keyless entry, heated power seats, dual-zone climate control, acoustic tinted glass, a wireless charger, 18-inch wheels and a 14-inch touchscreen multimedia system.

Interior comfort is further enhanced by ambient lighting, a power tailgate with memory function, electrically folding mirrors, rain and parking sensors, synthetic leather upholstery and an electrically adjustable heated steering wheel.

Segment-leading safety

In terms of safety, the 2026 Lexus RZ includes cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot and driver fatigue detection, Bi-LED headlights, a panoramic view monitor, traffic sign recognition, and a pre-collision safety system.

With this facelift, Lexus strengthens its position in the premium electric SUV segment, combining cutting-edge technology, impressive range and exceptional levels of luxury. It’s a true “Tesla Model Y fighter” with unmistakable Japanese precision.
