New Chevrolet Captiva PHEV 2026: the plug-in hybrid SUV arriving in Argentina with over 1,000 km of range
Chevrolet takes a bold step toward electrification in Argentina with the new Captiva PHEV, a plug-in hybrid SUV capable of traveling more than 1,000 kilometers without refueling, combining power, technology, and efficiency in one vehicle.
The Argentine automotive market is undergoing a major transformation. Plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) are emerging as the preferred option for drivers seeking lower fuel consumption without sacrificing long-distance autonomy. In this context, Chevrolet has announced the pre-sale of the 2026 Captiva PHEV, its first plug-in hybrid SUV in Argentina, marking a key milestone in the brand’s commitment to sustainable and advanced mobility.
Efficiency and technology: how the plug-in hybrid system works
At its core, the Captiva PHEV combines a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric system powered by a 20.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, delivering a total of 204 hp and 310 Nm of torque. This setup allows for a combined range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, offering freedom both in urban driving and on long trips. The battery can be charged either through the combustion engine or via an external source, and it’s compatible with CCS2 fast chargers as well as AC home chargers up to 6.6 kW, enabling owners to conveniently recharge their vehicle at home without requiring special infrastructure.
Modern design and premium comfort
The single-speed DHT automatic transmission and front-wheel drive system ensure a smooth, quiet, and efficient driving experience. In terms of design, the new SUV stands out with its modern, sporty aesthetics, LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, and a spacious, high-quality interior featuring premium materials. With a 532-liter boot capacity, it’s ideal for families or long-distance travelers, offering the perfect balance between style, practicality, and comfort.

Safety and warranty: two cornerstones of the new Captiva
Safety remains a top priority for Chevrolet. The Captiva PHEV comes equipped with six airbags, stability control, a 360° camera, hill-start assist, tire pressure monitoring, and a full ADAS suite including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning with active correction. The brand also offers a 3-year or 100,000 km vehicle warranty, plus 8 years or 150,000 km coverage for the battery, reinforcing confidence in its electric technology and long-term reliability.
With pre-sales now active in Argentina throughout October, the Chevrolet Captiva PHEV 2026 stands out as one of the year’s most compelling options for those seeking a perfect mix of efficiency, innovation, and autonomy. Available in Pearl White, Deep Gray, and Alba Blue, the model will be showcased in Chevrolet’s new “Store in Store” spaces—exclusive areas designed for its electrified range. The electric future already has a name, and it arrives with Chevrolet’s signature.
