A Large SUV with a French Surname
Motor1.com followers know the Dacia Bigster in detail, including its bifuel hybrid engine. However, today we focus on its higher-spec variant, named Renault Boreal. This French SUV is born with a more luxurious focus, while retaining the Romanian model’s robustness. Therefore, it offers 586 liters of boot space, highlighting its practical factor.
It measures 4.56 meters long, positioning itself in the most competitive segment. Its direct rivals include the Hyundai Tucson, the Ford Kuga, and the Peugeot 3008. The Renault Boreal 2026 structures its range around three official trims: Evolution, Techno, and Iconic.
The Basic Trim That Hides Nothing
We scrutinize the Evolution trim, the entry-level and most affordable version. Its exterior appearance does not diminish at all compared to the higher specifications. For instance, it incorporates chrome details and Full LED headlamps. Furthermore, it rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. Finally, the mirror caps are finished in contrasting black.
In the cabin, the Boreal Evolution already offers advanced technology. It includes the smartphone induction charger and dual-zone climate control. The sound system is Arkamys, and the digital instrumentation measures 7 inches. It also incorporates an electronic parking brake, adding comfort and security.

Flex Engine and Luxurious Equipment
This SUV debuts an excellent powertrain under the hood. It uses the 1.3 TCe four-cylinder engine developed with Mercedes-Benz. This is the Flex variant, which can run on gasoline and ethanol. The engine produces 163 HP and delivers 270 Nm of peak torque to the front axle. This engine allows a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 9.5 seconds.
The standard equipment stands out for its driving assistance systems. It includes Stop & Go adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. The driver has six airbags and lane assist. Other elements are the automatic tailgate and power-folding mirrors.
Starting Prices and First Impressions
