Looks like the Omoda 5 and costs like a Dacia: meet the Jetour Dashing, the Chinese SUV that could conquer Spain

By  |

The Jetour Dashing, built by Chinese automotive giant Chery, combines a sporty design with a budget-friendly price. This gasoline-powered SUV, already a hit in other markets, could become the next big Chinese contender in Spain.

Chery’s expansion in Spain has only just begun

The Chery Group, owner of brands such as Omoda, JAECOO, and Lepas, is rapidly expanding into the European market with increasingly competitive models. While the Omoda 5 and EBRO S400 have already drawn attention, another contender is emerging: the Jetour Dashing, a sporty SUV that resembles both the Omoda 5 and even the Lamborghini Urus — but at a fraction of the price. In some international markets, it’s priced similarly to a Dacia Sandero, making it a truly irresistible proposition.

A 147-hp gasoline SUV with a stylish design

At 4.59 meters long, the Jetour Dashing sits between the compact and midsize SUV segments, offering the ideal balance between space and agility. It’s powered by a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 147 hp, a familiar unit from other Chery models, paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a dual-clutch automatic (DCT). Performance figures haven’t been officially released, but it’s expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 10 seconds, matching the Omoda 5’s performance.

Tech-filled interior and premium comfort

The Jetour Dashing stands out not only for its sharp exterior but also for its modern, well-equipped cabin. It features a 12.8-inch central display, keyless entry and start, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Real-world fuel consumption is around 8 liters per 100 km, and higher trims include Eco and Sport driving modes, though there’s no traditional Normal mode. However, in markets with less strict safety regulations, standard equipment is limited to front airbags and lacks advanced ADAS systems.

An unbeatable price in the markets where it’s sold

In countries like Chile, the Jetour Dashing costs roughly €10,500, an incredibly low figure compared to what it would be in Spain — likely around €30,000, though with improved safety and tech equipment. This value-for-money balance could position it as a strong competitor against mainstream brands, offering more features for less money.

Will the Jetour Dashing arrive in Spain soon?

With Chery strengthening its presence across Europe, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Jetour as the next brand to land. The Dashing, with its sporty styling, proven mechanics, and attractive pricing, would fit perfectly into Spain’s booming SUV segment. If it arrives with European-standard features, it could easily become one of the year’s biggest surprises — and a real threat to established manufacturers.
