Infiniti Brings Back the Soul of Driving: A New Manual Sports Sedan with Over 450 HP
The premium arm of Nissan is preparing a new high-performance sedan with a twin-turbo V6 and a manual gearbox — bringing back the pure, analog driving experience enthusiasts have been craving.
Infiniti is developing a new rear-wheel-drive performance sedan, a direct descendant of the legendary Nissan Skyline, that will hit global markets as the next-generation Q50 or Q60. As the brand undergoes a major restructuring, it aims to revitalize its lineup with more passionate, driver-focused models — this time returning to combustion power and a manual transmission, instead of the electric path initially planned.
According to the most credible reports, the upcoming Infiniti Q50 2027 will feature the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 from the Nissan Z Nismo, but tuned for even greater performance. Output is expected to reach up to 450 horsepower, sent exclusively to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission — something increasingly rare in today’s premium market. There will also be automatic and all-wheel-drive versions designed to broaden the model’s appeal among a wider range of drivers.
A Bold Design Inspired by Japanese Tradition
Nissan’s global design chief, Alfonso Albaisa, has hinted that the new Skyline will be “inspired by the past, but looking toward the future.” Its proportions will blend classic cues with modern lines, taking the shape of a four-door fastback. Renderings show a front end with split headlights and a continuous light bar, a subtle rear spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets, while the interior will embrace a digital layout without abandoning the space for a proper gear shifter — a nod to purist driving enthusiasts.
Inside, the new Infiniti will feature dual digital displays, premium materials, and a balance between sportiness and comfort. The sedan is expected to debut in 2027, built in Japan and reaching U.S. dealerships in the second half of the year. Pricing for the top-spec model is rumored to start around $70,000, positioning it between the Nissan Z and the GT-R, and putting it head-to-head with performance icons like the BMW M340i and Audi S4.
Ultimately, Infiniti is reconnecting with its true performance roots, delivering a car that blends technology, power, and emotional engagement behind the wheel. If expectations are met, this next-generation Q50 could mark the return of analog driving in a digital era, reigniting Infiniti’s reputation among performance enthusiasts around the world.
