On the eve of Fiat’s 50th anniversary in Brazil, the Italian brand showcased the Fiat Dolce Camper at the 2025 São Paulo Motor Show. Inspired by the Grande Panda, this prototype previews the design of future models for the South American market, blending elements of a minivan, SUV, and off-road vehicle, and featuring camper highlights such as an inflatable rooftop tent, perfect for getaways and outdoor activities.

Innovative design and platform

The Fiat Dolce Camper is likely based on the Smart Car platform, shared with the Grande Panda, Citroën C3, C3 Aircross, and Opel Frontera. Its robust design and straight lines maximize interior space and light off-road capability, while the elevated suspension and all-terrain tires provide some freedom on rough terrain. Fiat’s design philosophy for this concept is clear: “Functionality without sacrificing fun,” balancing practicality with adventure.

Powertrain and technology

Fiat has not released specific engine details, but the multi-energy platform suggests options for gasoline engines, mild hybrid systems, or fully electric powertrains. The minimalist interior features simple seats and a clean dashboard, along with a circuit-shaped steering wheel, emphasizing the prototype’s playful character.

Future and expectations

While the Dolce Camper may remain a fascinating concept, its lines and proportions could be adopted in production models. This Brazilian prototype evolves from the Fiat Camper 2023, highlighting the brand’s interest in exploring new segments and expanding the Grande Panda family toward compact SUVs and urban campers.

The Grande Panda family grows

Fiat’s future plans include the ‘Giga’ Panda, a seven-seat SUV similar in size to the Citroën C3 Aircross, expected in 2026, along with other upcoming models. The Dolce Camper could serve as a preview for a compact SUV with light off-road capability, designed to compete with models like the Dacia Bigster, strengthening Fiat’s presence in the urban and adventurous vehicle segment.
