Dacia Sandman: The Low-Cost Motorhome That Could Revolutionize the European Market
Based on the Renault Master camper, the hypothetical Dacia Sandman would arrive with the essentials, no frills, but at a groundbreaking price that could fall below €50,000.
The camper segment is booming across Europe, and Dacia could capitalize on the Renault Master Ahorn platform to launch its very first motorhome—a move perfectly aligned with the Romanian brand’s philosophy: offering everything necessary at the lowest possible price. The idea, proposed by Motor1 Germany, opens the door to a model that would expand Dacia’s lineup into a highly profitable segment.
A Proven and Efficient Base
The project would be built on the fourth generation of the Renault Master, unveiled in July, powered by Blue dCi diesel engines ranging from 130 to 170 hp, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. This is an efficient and robust powertrain, also featuring ADAS driver assistance systems, an ergonomic driving position, and a modern multimedia system based on Google’s Android Automotive. Combined with Dacia’s focus on simplicity, this would make for an attractive product for buyers seeking practicality without added costs.
A Motorhome With the Essentials
The Dacia Sandman would stay true to the brand’s “value for money” philosophy: a motorhome equipped with a kitchen, full bathroom, multiple beds, stationary heating, and hot water. It would also feature a dining area and the basic elements for comfortable travel, while skipping premium materials and unnecessary extras. On the outside, the front would receive a specific redesign with Dacia’s logo and grille, while the rest would remain largely identical to the Renault Master camper.

Price as Its Strongest Asset
Currently, Ahorn motorhomes start at €58,900 in Germany, so the Dacia Sandman would clearly need to be priced below that figure. In fact, estimates suggest it could be offered around €50,000, or even less, making it one of the most affordable options in its category. Such a proposal would be especially appealing to young families, adventurers, and travelers looking for comfort at a reasonable price.
A Possible Future for Dacia?
For now, the Romanian brand has no official plans to enter the motorhome market. However, the growing popularity of campers and the segment’s proven profitability make the idea highly appealing. The Dacia Sandman would be a bold move in the camper world: an affordable, functional, and global model that stays true to the brand’s practical spirit.
