Citroën’s SUV Aims to be a Minivan! New C5 Aircross 2026: Electric, 520 km Range, and Maximum Comfort
Citroën completely renews its large SUV, the C5 Aircross, with a strong family focus and 520 km of electric range. The new generation debuts the STLA Medium platform, engines up to 230 HP, and class-leading electric range.
The Revolution and the New Family Focus
Citroën has radically changed its strategy over the last two years. Its entire range is completely renewed, from the Ami quadricycle to the Jumper van. The 2026 C5 Aircross follows this trend with a total overhaul. This SUV launches its second generation, now seeking a more family-oriented audience. It aims to fill the gap left by the brand’s former minivans, such as the Xsara and C4 Picasso. Moreover, since its original launch in 2018, it has sold over half a million units.
STLA Platform and Smart Growth
Measuring tape in hand, the new C5 Aircross has grown significantly. It now measures 4.65 meters long, gaining 15 centimeters over the previous model. The key to this growth lies in the STLA Medium platform from Stellantis. This architecture increases the wheelbase to 2.78 meters, ensuring more interior space. The exterior design prioritizes aerodynamics with an SCx coefficient of 0.75, improving on the previous 0.84. Its striking Light Wings rear light clusters notably stand out.
Inside, the renovation is even more comprehensive. The dashboard evolves towards modern, horizontal shapes. The steering wheel features only two spokes, integrating essential physical buttons. The dual-screen setup follows the current trend. We find a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 13.6-inch vertical touchscreen. The key factor is comfort thanks to the Advanced Comfort seats.

Electrified Range and Long Range
The mechanical range is fully electrified, eliminating pure diesel and gasoline engines. The offer starts with the 1.2 Hybrid (mild hybrid) with 145 HP. This engine homologates a consumption of 5.4 liters. One step up, we find the C5 Aircross Plug-in Hybrid with 195 HP. With a 21 kWh battery, it achieves 95 km of electric range. Its total range extends up to 1,100 km.
The 100% electric versions of 210 and 230 HP complete the lineup. The 210 HP version, which we tested, achieves 520 km of homologated range. Maximum ride comfort defines its behavior at the wheel. This is due to the standard Advanced Comfort suspension. Prices start from 34,690 euros for the Hybrid 145 HP. The 210 HP electric model starts at 37,490 euros with discount.
