Chevrolet Spark EUV 2025: The Electric Car Dominating Argentina and Redefining the Market
In just two months, Chevrolet’s compact SUV has become the best-selling electric vehicle in the country. Its success signals a profound shift in Argentina’s automotive landscape.

A debut nobody saw coming
The Asociación de Concesionarios de la República Argentina (Acara) — the organisation that has controlled national automotive statistics for nearly 30 years — made history on 30 September with a groundbreaking report. For the first time, it included official figures for fully electric vehicle registrations. And hidden among familiar names, an unexpected star emerged: the 2025 Chevrolet Spark EUV, which registered 104 units in only two months, enough to lead a monthly BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) market totalling 159 vehicles.
A generational leap in electric mobility
Until 2024, Argentina’s EV market was led by simple, affordable models like the Coradir Tito and Renault Kwid E-Tech, both pioneers in bringing electric mobility to a broader audience. However, the arrival of the Spark EUV marks a clear paradigm shift. This is a vehicle with greater power, longer range and a more advanced technological focus, placing it alongside recent entrants such as the BYD Dolphin Mini and Volvo EX30.
Global DNA with a local twist
The Chevrolet Spark EUV is, in fact, a rebadged Baojun Yep Plus from China, adapted by General Motors for Latin American markets. It features an electric motor with 102 horsepower, promises a 360-kilometre range, and carries a list price of 40,566,900 Argentine pesos. It’s also the first fully electric model GM has sold in Argentina, marking a milestone for the American manufacturer in this region.
We’re putting it to the test at InsideEVs
At InsideEVs, we’ve added the Spark EUV to our garage for a full week of testing. We’ll evaluate its dynamic behaviour, real-world efficiency, connectivity, and whether it truly lives up to its sales performance. Our final verdict is coming soon, but all signs suggest that Chevrolet may have found the winning formula to lead Argentina’s emerging EV market.
