Chevrolet Launches the Captiva PHEV 2026: The Plug-in Hybrid SUV with Over 1,000 km of Range Arrives in Argentina
The American brand takes a decisive step toward regional electrification with a model that blends efficiency, technology, and comfort to conquer the South American market.

Electromobility in South America has a new key player. Chevrolet has officially started pre-sales in Argentina for the new Captiva PHEV 2026, the brand’s first plug-in hybrid SUV to be marketed in the region. With a combined range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, this model is set to become one of General Motors’ strategic pillars for driving electrification in emerging markets. Andrés Carfagna, GM’s Commercial Director for Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, emphasized that “the return of Captiva as a plug-in hybrid marks a milestone in our regional electrification strategy.”
Modern and Efficient Design for Everyday Use
The Captiva PHEV MY26 features a modern, aerodynamic design with details that highlight its urban and family-oriented character. The High Gloss black grille, projector-type LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels and full LED taillights give it a sophisticated and confident look. Inside, the cabin prioritizes comfort with eco-leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, digital climate control and a generous 532-liter boot, perfectly blending style and practicality.
Under the hood, the Captiva PHEV combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with an electric motor powered by a 20.5 kWh battery, delivering a total output of 204 hp and 31.6 kgm of torque. Thanks to its single-gear DHT automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, it offers smooth and efficient performance. The lithium iron phosphate battery can be recharged either through the combustion engine or using CCS2 fast chargers and home outlets of up to 6.6 kW.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Top-Level Safety
In terms of safety, the SUV incorporates the Chevrolet Intelligent Driving suite, which includes state-of-the-art ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, forward collision alert, a 360° camera and six airbags. For connectivity, it’s equipped with a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital cluster, a six-speaker audio system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and four USB ports for all passengers.
Finally, Chevrolet is rolling out its innovative Store in Store concept—exclusive spaces within its dealership network dedicated to electrified models like the Captiva PHEV and the 100% electric Spark EUV. These specialized showrooms offer expert advisors, home charging demonstrations, and a virtual assistant to help customers transition to cleaner technologies. With the Captiva PHEV 2026, Chevrolet is strengthening its leadership in innovation and sustainable mobility, marking a turning point in the electrified vehicle landscape for the region.
