BYD Dolphin 2026: The Electric Compact Refreshed with Aesthetic and Equipment Changes

By  |

The BYD Dolphin restyling has been spotted in Brazil, confirming its global launch planned for 2026.

The BYD Dolphin has been seen again in Brazil, after being known through photos in its country of origin during 2024. Interestingly, in the South American market, this electric compact is the second best-selling BYD, only surpassed by the Dolphin Mini (Dolphin Surf in Spain). This facelift aims to increase the vehicle’s global presence.

In Spain, the refreshed Dolphin intends to gain ground against rivals from traditional brands. These include the Volkswagen ID.3, the CUPRA Born, and the recently arrived Kia EV4. Despite its very good launch price, the original vehicle perhaps did not captivate customers with its aesthetics.

Key Visual and Internal Changes

The facelift of the Chinese compact is not extreme, but it introduces important visual and internal changes. The exterior design shows new headlights and taillights, in addition to redesigned bumpers and grille. The modifications also include an increase in overall length to about 4.29 meters.

In the cabin, the brand has incorporated an updated steering wheel. Furthermore, the central multimedia screen has been revised, and it is reported that it no longer has the traditional rotating function. Additionally, comfort adjustments for passengers are expected.

Technical Data and Current Prices

The refreshed car is already perfectly known in China. In that country, the restyling was launched several months ago. It even debuted with new, more advanced ADAS aids across the entire range. However, in international markets, BYD has opted to maintain the current appearance for a while longer.

Currently, the Dolphin is on sale in Spain only with the most powerful engine. The most potent version offers 204 HP and a maximum range of 427 km (while in China there are 95 and 177 HP versions, with ranges starting from 340 km). In Spain, the cash sale price starts at 37,340 euros. If the buyer applies all discounts (brand campaign and Plan MOVES), the rate can drop to 24,640 euros.

Equipment and Performance

The current model has two trims: Comfort and Design. Standard equipment includes automatic climate control with a heat pump and keyless entry and start. It also features LED headlights, a 12.8-inch rotating central screen, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The equipment is completed with vegan leather upholstery and electrically folding mirrors.

The Dolphin covers the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 7 seconds. Additionally, its maximum speed is self-limited to 160 km/h. In principle, the refreshed Dolphin will maintain these technical data, as well as much of the factory equipment. However, the complete official information is expected soon.
