BMW Z4 Final Edition: Farewell to the Roadster with Dark Style and M40i Power
The BMW Z4 Final Edition stands out for its matte black finish, high technology, and extremely limited production. The model honors its association with the Supra and promises to be a collector’s item.
BMW has confirmed the end of production for its Z4 roadster. The decision follows the announcement of the Toyota Supra Final Edition. Both models have been twins since birth. Therefore, the goodbye of one rarely signals a long future for the other.
Production of the Final Edition will be handled in Austria by Magna Steyr. This will run between February 2026 and the complete Z4 line shutdown in April. All Final Edition vehicles will feature Individual Frozen Black metallic paint. This color achieves a perfect sinister vibe. Furthermore, the Shadowline blackout package comes standard.
The aesthetic package includes the grille, mirror caps, and exhaust finishers in glossy black. A Moonlight Black soft top reinforces the sombre mood. However, all that darkness only makes the bright red M Sport brake calipers stand out even more.
High-Performance Driving and Equipped Cabin
Mechanically, the farewell Z4 is much the same as the standard Z4 M40i. The straight-six engine delivers 382 hp (387 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. In order to manage that power, the wheels follow the classic staggered sports car format. The front axle mounts 19-inch rims, while the rears step up to 20 inches.
The interior focuses on contrast. The upholstery mixes Vernasca leather and Alcantara. In addition, red contrast stitching is used extensively across the seats, dash, console, and doors. Consequently, the seat belts feature the M tricolor and the floor mats get matching piping. In terms of equipment, several comfort and tech upgrades are included. The vehicle incorporates the Driving Assistance Package, the Premium Package with a head-up display, and a Harman Kardon sound system.

The choice of transmission offers different dynamics. Drivers who pick the six-speed manual option also get the special Handschalter chassis tuning. This adjustment includes unique springs, a reinforced anti-roll bar clamp, and updated traction control logic. On the other hand, the eight-speed automatic gearbox misses out on these chassis tweaks but wins the straight-line war. The automatic accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, compared to 4.2 seconds for the stick-equipped car.
BMW has set a price of $78,675 USD for the Final Edition in the US. This figure includes the destination charge. Despite the cessation of the joint Z4 and Supra project, a BMW executive mentioned that creating a new sports car from the Neue Klasse platform is “feasible.”
