Alfa Romeo Tonale 2026: Deep Update, PHEV, Ibrida (ECO), and Diesel Engine Range
Alfa Romeo has revealed the prices and equipment for the refreshed Tonale 2026 compact SUV in Spain, highlighting a restyling that updates its design, tweaks its mechanics, and widens the tracks for improved handling. Surprisingly, the lineup continues to offer a diesel engine option.
Key Aspects of the 2026 Update:
- Mechanical Diversity and Environmental Labels: The offering includes a 1.6 Diesel with 130 hp, a 1.5 Ibrida (Mild Hybrid) with 175 hp and an ECO label, and a 1.3 Plug-in Hybrid Q4 with 270 hp and a CERO (Zero Emission) sticker.
- Pricing and Highlighted Version: Prices in Spain start at $40,150$ euros for the base diesel version and go up to $58,600$ euros for the top-of-the-range Plug-in Hybrid Veloce.
Design Refreshes Inserts and Trim Structure
The restyling of the Alfa Romeo Tonale 2026 shows noticeable aesthetic changes to the grille and bumpers. The color and alloy wheel catalogs have also been updated. Inside the cabin, the model retains its screens but introduces new upholstery and inserts. The 2026 range is now structured around five new trims: Tonale, Sprint, TI, Veloce, and Sport Speciale.
Engines: From Diesel to ZERO Emission Hybrid
The compact SUV maintains the entry-level diesel engine: the 1.6 diesel with 130 hp and $320 of torque. This engine is paired with the DCT six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Thus, it accelerates in $10.9$ seconds, reaches $195\text{ km/h}$, and claims a consumption of $5.3$ liters per $100\text{ km}$.
Above the diesel is the mild-hybrid gasoline, called Ibrida, which delivers $175 and $240 Coupled with the DCT seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the Ibrida improves acceleration to $8.5$ seconds and reaches up to $212. Its consumption is $5.7$ liters per $100, and it also benefits from the Eco label.
The 1.3 PHEV: Power, CERO Label, and Q4 Traction
The maximum exponent of the range is the plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The 1.3 PHEV develops a combined $270 and features Q4 all-wheel drive. Coupled with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission, it completes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in $6.6$ seconds. It sets a top speed of $195\text{ km/h}$.

Thanks to its $15.5 battery, the model is capable of traveling $61 in electric mode. This figure explains an approved consumption of $3$ liters per $100 under the WLTP combined cycle. Furthermore, it sports the CERO sticker on the windshield. The PHEV’s trunk is $385$ liters, which is smaller than the $500$ liters found in the rest of the range.
Safety and Comfort Equipment from the Base Trim
The base “Tonale” trim already includes a comprehensive set of equipment. It features six airbags, keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control, and voice assistance. It also incorporates ambient lighting, $12.3$-inch instrumentation, and $17$-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, the safety package adds front collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and Full LED headlights.
