Dodge builds two 750-hp manual Chargers for drifting
Dodge has created two one-off Charger drift cars with 750 horsepower, rear-wheel drive and manual transmissions based on the Charger Scat Pack.
Dodge has transformed the new Charger into a dedicated drift machine. The company unveiled two one-off Charger drift cars with 750 horsepower, rear-wheel drive and manual transmissions, radically changing the standard Scat Pack formula.
Built in just 60 days, the project turned a factory all-wheel-drive, automatic-equipped Charger into a pair of track-focused drifting specials.

Dodge transformed the Charger Scat Pack into a pair of 750-hp rear-wheel-drive drift cars.
The two custom builds are called the BOOST Coupe and the Rapid People Mover (RPM). The two-door version focuses entirely on performance, while the four-door model was designed to carry passengers during drift demonstrations.
Both cars are based on the Charger Scat Pack powered by Dodge’s high-output twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six engine.
More power and a manual transmission
The factory engine normally produces 550 horsepower, but both drift cars have been upgraded to deliver at least 750 horsepower.

Both drift cars receive major engine upgrades, manual transmissions and rear-wheel-drive conversions.
The BOOST Coupe swaps the factory twin-turbo setup for a high-output single-turbo system, while the RPM retains twin turbos with extensive modifications. Both cars also receive custom intake, exhaust and cooling components.
One of the biggest changes is the drivetrain. The factory all-wheel-drive system has been replaced by a rear-wheel-drive layout paired with a manual transmission, making the cars much better suited for drifting.
Dodge also fitted drift-specific suspension, revised steering geometry and reinforced chassis components to improve control during sustained slides.
Built specifically for drifting
Inside, the standard interiors have been removed in favor of racing seats, roll cages and multi-point harnesses.

The custom Chargers feature racing interiors, wide-body styling and drift-focused chassis upgrades.
The exterior receives custom hoods, wider fenders, large rear wings and unique aerodynamic details. Both cars wear special liveries that combine the Charger’s Purple Haze paint with traditional racing and drifting graphics.

That positioning would give Ford a stronger entry-level offering in one of the fastest-growing segments of the U.S. market.
Production could begin in 2029
The design shown to dealers was reportedly only a preliminary concept, meaning the final production model could change significantly before launch.

The production version could be built in Mexico and become Ford’s most affordable model.
Reports indicate that a new hybrid crossover is scheduled to enter production in 2029 at Ford’s Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico, and that model could be the same vehicle presented during the dealer event.
If the project moves forward as expected, the Ford $25,000 SUV would become one of the brand’s most important new products, giving buyers a more affordable alternative to larger crossovers and helping Ford compete more aggressively in the entry-level SUV segment.

Another concern is the growing workload. Expanding to 10 Sprint weekends would effectively create 34 race events across a 24-round season, increasing the physical and mental demands on drivers and team personnel.
A different approach could improve the format
One proposal is to replace the third practice session with a Sprint race, allowing qualifying to take place earlier on Saturday and making the Sprint the main event of the day.
