JAECOO 7 SHS-H: the new Chinese hybrid SUV aiming to shake up the Spanish market in 2025
The latest electrified crossover from the Chery Group promises an Eco label, low fuel consumption and a price that could disrupt the competition.

The rise of the Omoda 5 SHS-H has put the European market on alert, and now all eyes are on Chery’s next move: the JAECOO 7 SHS-H, a hybrid version expected to arrive in Spain in the coming months. With styling reminiscent of the Range Rover Evoque, this model is shaping up to become one of the most compelling hybrid SUVs in the mainstream segment.
A hybrid with an Eco label and a more rugged profile

Although it is not yet on sale and has not been officially announced in countries like Italy, the JAECOO 7 SHS-H is widely expected to launch soon. Its hybrid powertrain will be nearly identical to the Omoda’s, delivering 224 combined horsepower, thanks to a 143 hp 1.5 TGDI petrol engine paired with a 204 hp electric motor, which handles propulsion most of the time. The combustion unit mainly serves as a generator, though it can also power the vehicle when needed, allowing for strong efficiency without compromising usable performance.
In terms of dynamics, the JAECOO 7 is likely to be slightly slower than its Omoda “cousin” due to its boxier shape. The Omoda 5 SHS-H completes the 0–100 km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds, so the JAECOO may take a few tenths longer, while retaining the same 175 km/h top speed. Likewise, the Omoda’s official average fuel consumption (5.3 l/100 km) may rise slightly in the JAECOO, though it will still remain impressively low for a SUV of its size.
There should also be no surprises regarding trim levels: the hybrid JAECOO 7 is expected to retain the Select and Exclusive versions, both offering very generous equipment, along with the brand’s well-known 7-year or 150,000 km warranty, one of the most competitive in the industry. This is a crucial selling point in Spain, helping Chinese brands gain ground against established European and Japanese manufacturers.
The big question revolves around pricing – but early estimates look promising. Since the petrol-powered JAECOO 7 starts at €26,890, the hybrid version could come in at around €28,000 with financing, or approximately €33,000 when paid in full. This projection fits well considering that the Omoda 5 SHS-H is priced from €23,990 with financing and around €28,800 outright. The expected gap of roughly €4,000 aligns perfectly with Chery’s positioning strategy between Omoda and JAECOO.
