Warranty Be Damned, Profit Secured: The New 1,064 HP Corvette ZR1 Flipped For $70,000 Profit

By  |

GM tried to curb speculation with a warranty void policy for the ZR1 resold within 12 months.

  • A 2026 Chevrolet C8 Corvette ZR1, showing just five miles, was sold at auction for $290,000.
  • The flip netted the original buyer almost $70,000 in profit, despite the factory warranty now being void.

The American Supercar Ignores GM’s Rules

The Chevrolet C8 Corvette ZR1, with an output of 1,064 hp (1,079 PS), offers levels of performance that were once unthinkable for an American supercar. This model puts much more expensive European exotics on notice. In an effort to keep early allocations from becoming quick-profit flips, GM said it would void the warranty of any ZR1 resold within 12 months of its original purchase. To the surprise of no one, that policy hasn’t stopped one buyer from shelling out a hefty premium for a car showing just five miles on the odometer, essentially delivery mileage.

The auctioned unit was a 2026 model with an original sticker price of $220,745. The base MSRP for the ZR1 is $191,400. It included the comprehensive $27,350 ZTK Performance Track Package. This package adds carbon ceramic brakes, performance suspension, and extreme aerodynamic add-ons like the towering rear wing, front splitter, and canards.

Exclusive Configuration and New Digital Cockpit

Although the Jet Black exterior paint is one of the tamer color choices on offer, the original owner added Edge Blue racing stripes. These match the 20- and 21-inch forged wheels and the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires developed specifically for the ZR1.

Inside, the ZR1 was equipped with GT2 bucket seats trimmed in Jet Black Nappa leather with Santorini Blue stitching and seatbelts. There’s also plenty of Alcantara trim throughout and a 14-speaker Bose audio system. As a 2026 model, this ZR1 introduces a 6.6-inch display mounted to the left of the central 14-inch digital cluster, creating a cleaner cockpit layout. This new configuration does away with the infamous “wall of buttons” that split opinion on earlier C8 Corvettes.

The Price of Desire

This particular Corvette ZR1 example was listed for sale on Bring a Trailer with an original sticker price of $220,745. Despite its warranty now being void, it managed to fetch a breathtaking $290,000. This netted the original buyer a profit of almost $70,000.

Spending $290,000 on a ZR1 is a heck of a lot of money, especially considering that the more powerful, all-wheel drive ZR1X hybrid is available from as little as $205,400. That is, of course, if you can find one at the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP).
