Toyota powers up its most iconic pick-up for the US. Discover all the details of the hybrid versions and the aesthetic improvements.

The 2026 Toyota Tacoma bursts onto the scene with a major update. This model incorporates important technical and aesthetic details. Furthermore, it reinforces its powerful presence in the American market. Among the novelties, the black front emblem stands out on the TRD versions. It also introduces new colors: Heritage Blue and Wave Maker, exclusive to the TRD Pro. The tow hitch now comes standard. This measure expands the versatility of the SR XtraCab model for adventure.

Hybrid Power and Transmission for Purists

The new Tacoma offers two solid mechanical options. The i-Force 2.4-liter turbo engine generates up to 278 HP. Therefore, it delivers 43.8 kgm of torque. It couples with an eight-speed automatic transmission. However, purists choose the six-speed intelligent manual. For maximum performance, the i-Force Max hybrid version exists. This setup delivers 326 HP and 64.2 kgm of torque. It estimates a combined consumption of 23 mpg according to the EPA.

Trailhunter and TRD Pro: Extreme Force for the Desert

The Trailhunter version takes off-road capabilities to another level. It exclusively equips the i-Force Max hybrid system. Likewise, the off-road preparation comes straight from the factory. Its 2.5-inch Old Man Emu shocks stand out. It also features a low-profile snorkel. It uses 33-inch Goodyear tires on bronze-colored wheels. The TRD Pro is inspired by the Baja. This variant incorporates exclusive FOX QS3 adjustable suspension. It includes IsoDynamic Performance seats with air-over-oil shock absorbers. These seats reduce body movement on rough roads.

The range offers simple traction (2WD) or two types of 4×4 traction. Most i-Force Max hybrid variants incorporate all-wheel drive. The Limited versions add an electronic-locking center differential. In addition, they integrate the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) as standard. This ensures a smoother ride. Finally, it guarantees optimal stability in the city and on dirt roads.

Toyota demonstrates its big commitment to the pick-up segment. Hybrid technology adds both strength and efficiency. The estimated base price starts at $32,145. That is correct, the 2026 Tacoma will begin selling at US dealerships during the winter. The anticipated TRD Pro version will arrive in the North American market in March 2026.
