The Last Bugatti Bolide W-16 Track Car: The End of an Era in Molsheim
The Molsheim manufacturer concludes production of the Bolide, its definitive track-only hypercar. This final delivery marks the penultimate chapter in the W-16 engine’s legendary history.
Bugatti is closing the penultimate stage in the W-16 engine’s story. Consequently, production of the Bolide, its ultimate track toy, finishes. The 40th and final car was built and handed over to its rightful owner. This fortunate client picked up the vehicle directly from the factory in northeastern France.
Furthermore, the owner is a Bugatti collector who paid four million euros for a car they cannot drive on public roads. Their garage houses a classic Type 35, a successful racing machine from nearly a century ago. This wealthy customer also owns a Veyron Grand Sport, which is the very last of its kind, just like the Bolide.
Aesthetic Details and the W-16’s Departure
The Veyron and Bolide share an exterior finish in Black Blue and Special Blue Lyonnais. Similarly, the interior is Lake Blue and is fully draped in Alcantara. However, the British firm Lanzante is working to help one Bolide earn a license plate.

Currently, deliveries of the Mistral are still underway. This is the final model to feature the iconic W-16 engine, which was introduced 20 years ago on the Veyron. The Mistral is a roadster limited to 99 units. Deliveries of this fastest roofless car ever made began in February.
The Hybrid Successor and Chassis Legacy
Bugatti developed a completely new V-16 engine for the Tourbillon, which replaces the Chiron. Tourbillon deliveries will begin next year. This new Cosworth-developed engine foregoes the turbochargers, opting for a naturally aspirated setup. Furthermore, it has a larger displacement, 8.4 liters versus the previous 8.0. This V-16 engine serves as the heart of a hybrid system, complying with stricter emissions regulations. Finally, the Solitaire Program will breathe new life into older cars with updated hardware and refreshed styling.
