The Dodge Dart Returns from the Dead: Six “New” Cars Sold in 2025
Even years after production ended, Stellantis’ zombie cars refuse to disappear. The Dodge Dart, among others, has unexpectedly resurfaced in sales reports, surprising enthusiasts and collectors alike.

A Zombie Car Phenomenon
The Dodge Dart has made a bizarre comeback, with six units sold in Q3 2025, a 500% increase compared to the same quarter in 2024. Despite production ending in September 2016 at Belvidere Assembly Plant, some final-stock Darts are still trickling out of dealerships, proving that even a nine-year-old model can find buyers.
Why Buyers Chose the Dart
These buyers likely scored a deal on a nearly decade-old compact sedan, reminiscent of its overseas rebadged versions: the Fiat Viaggio and Ottimo, discontinued in 2017. Compared to a 2025 Nissan Versa, the Dart may seem outdated, but nostalgia and scarcity clearly influenced these six purchases.
Other Survivors in the Dodge Lineup
The Dart isn’t the only “undead” vehicle. The Dodge Journey sold 13 units in Q3 2025, even after production ended in 2020, while the Dodge Caravan recorded eight sales for the quarter. Additionally, Fiat 500L and 500X units continue to appear sporadically, showing Stellantis’ leftover inventory persists longer than expected.
Impact on Stellantis’ 2025 Sales
These zombie cars contributed minimally to Stellantis’ U.S. Q3 numbers, which rose six percent to 324,825 units. Overall, though, 2025 remains challenging, with shipments down six percent through September to 928,024 vehicles, highlighting that even rare sales of discontinued models cannot significantly alter market trends.
Conclusion: Nostalgia Meets Rarity
The return of the Dodge Dart and other “zombie cars” offers a quirky glimpse into the automotive world, where some models refuse to die. For collectors and enthusiasts, these sales are proof that old cars can still find eager buyers, decades after leaving the assembly line.
