Range Rover Evoque 2027: The Luxury Compact SUV is Reimagined with Electric Platform
The Land Rover subcompact SUV will adopt a purely electric platform, although it might retain combustion options.
The third generation of the Range Rover Evoque will launch in late 2027 and will initially be an electric vehicle (EV). The Evoque is the entry-level model for the Range Rover brand. It is also the firm’s best-selling vehicle in the UK. In fact, it accounts for 40% of its sales.
Its arrival will follow the launch of the Range Rover Electric and the Range Rover Velar in 2026. It will also launch after the Range Rover Sport EV, expected in early 2027. The Evoque will maintain its place in the Land Rover lineup, but with a substantial technical reinvention.
New EMA Platform and Greater Space
The new Range Rover Evoque will use the new EMA (Electrified Modular Architecture) platform. It will share this architecture with the new Range Rover Velar. This is a skateboard-style EV platform. It features an 800V architecture. This configuration should offer a range of around 450 miles (724 km) on the WLTP standard. This would translate to about 350 to 400 miles (563 to 644 km) under EPA testing. Additionally, quick charging times are expected.
The exterior design of the third generation will not be a major departure from the current model. However, the interior is expected to gain space. Passenger and cargo areas will be more spacious. This takes advantage of the flat floor provided by the skateboard platform.

Possibility of Hybrid and Combustion Engines
There is an expectation that the electric Evoque will have a combustion engine alternative. Jaguar Land Rover scaled back its purely electric plans under the Reimagine strategy. Furthermore, the British government extended the permission for hybrid sales until 2035. Previously, the limit was set for 2030. This shift opens the door for the third-generation Evoque to offer a plug-in hybrid variant.
Another model that will use the same EMA architecture is the future Defender Sport. Spy shots have shown Land Rover testing a smaller Defender. The lack of a grille or muffler suggests the vehicle being tested is an EV. This Defender Sport could also offer a plug-in hybrid variant. Its arrival is estimated for 2027, around the same time as the Evoque’s launch.
