Ram Rampage 2026: The American Pickup Arriving in Europe With Diesel and Gasoline Power

By  |

The Ram brand storms into the European market with a compact, high-tech truck designed to redefine the light pickup segment.

Stellantis targets a new niche in Europe

Stellantis is making a bold move in Europe with the new 2026 Ram Rampage, a pickup that aims to position itself between a compact SUV and a midsize truck. Designed and built in Brazil, this unibody pickup arrives on the Old Continent in two distinctive versions: the Rebel, focused on off-road performance, and the R/T, tuned for a sportier, street-oriented character.

Measuring 198 inches (5,028 mm) long, 74.2 in (1,886 mm) wide, and 67.5 in (1,716 mm) tall, the Rampage is far easier to handle than the massive Ram 1500, making it much better suited to Europe’s narrower roads while keeping its adventurous DNA intact.

Two powerful engines: diesel for work, gasoline for excitement

Under the hood, the Ram Rampage Rebel features a 2.2-litre Multijet turbodiesel delivering 200 hp and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, offering solid pulling power with a maximum payload of 1,015 kg (2,237 lbs). The R/T version ups the ante with a 2.0-litre Hurricane petrol engine producing 272 hp and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft), capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 6.9 seconds and reaching 220 km/h (137 mph).

Both versions include all-wheel drive, independent suspension, hill start assist, and hill descent control, along with a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, Highway Assist, and automatic emergency braking.

A premium interior packed with cutting-edge technology

Inside, the Rampage offers a modern, tech-forward cabin. The centrepiece is a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, complemented by a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Premium materials and clever ergonomics make it comfortable for both urban driving and long journeys.

Cargo capacity is also impressive: its 980-litre (34.6 cu-ft) bed proves that this pickup isn’t just about style — it’s built for practicality too.

A strategic move against Toyota and Ford

The Ram Rampage’s European debut coincides with the launch of the new Toyota Hilux, though the two don’t directly compete. While the Hilux remains a traditional body-on-frame workhorse, the Rampage focuses on a lighter, more urban unibody platform, aimed at drivers seeking versatility, comfort, and an American touch without sacrificing everyday usability.

Although North America won’t be getting the Rampage, Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa has confirmed that Ram is developing a new midsize pickup for 2027 with a body-on-frame architecture and “very competitive” specs — set to rival the Jeep Gladiator, Toyota Tacoma, and Nissan Frontier.

Ultimately, the 2026 Ram Rampage represents the evolution of the pickup concept: American toughness, global technology, and European-friendly proportions. A bold blend that’s ready to win over both classic car enthusiasts and fans of cutting-edge innovation.
