Peugeot Polygon Concept: The Future 208 Looks Supercharged
The new concept previews the next E-208 with a Hypersquare steering wheel, steer-by-wire, and a fully customizable interior.

Peugeot has fully unveiled its Polygon Concept, a prototype that redefines the vision of urban driving. Measuring under four meters–about five centimeters shorter than the current E-208–the French brand presents a car that is more customizable and versatile, offering multiple personalities to suit the driver’s needs. This isn’t just a styling exercise; it’s a glimpse into the future Peugeot models expected from 2027 onward.
Hypersquare Steering Wheel and Steer-by-Wire

One of the standout features of the Polygon Concept is its rectangular “Hypersquare” steering wheel paired with steer-by-wire technology, eliminating the traditional mechanical connection between the wheel and the front wheels. Previously seen only in models like the Tesla Cybertruck and the Lexus RZ, this system provides more agile and precise driving, filters unwanted vibrations, and delivers essential road information without full turns. The Hypersquare allows only 170 degrees of rotation in each direction–less than a full turn–and the main controls can be accessed with the fingertips from the wheel’s corners.
The interior of the Polygon Concept also impresses with its technology and customization. Traditional screens are replaced by a micro-LED head-up display, equivalent to a 31-inch screen projected onto the windshield. In addition, the horizontal light signature at the front and rear, along with the micro-LED panel on the C-pillar, can display different color motifs and charging status, creating a futuristic and playful effect that previews Peugeot’s next design language.
The cabin is highly adaptable, featuring mounts for phones, headphones, backpacks, or scooters, gullwing doors, a windshield fused with a dual-pane glass roof, and the elimination of the B-pillar to maximize brightness. Many interior and exterior elements are replaceable within minutes, including the steering wheel, seat foam colors and shapes, and even laser-etched tire designs. Simplified production and the use of recycled materials reinforce Peugeot’s commitment to sustainability.
A Preview of the Future E-208

The Polygon Concept previews much of the next-generation Peugeot E-208, arriving in 2027 on the STLA Small platform, featuring steer-by-wire, the Hypersquare wheel, horizontal light signatures, and an optional head-up display. Other elements, such as gullwing doors and micro-LED technology, are likely to remain exclusive to concept or special editions, but they clearly show Peugeot’s direction: more technological, customizable, and sustainable cars.
Ultimately, the Polygon Concept not only showcases futuristic design but also a new mobility philosophy, combining innovation, sustainability, and driving pleasure, offering a glimpse of how Peugeot plans to transform its compact lineup and redefine the urban driving experience in the years to come.
