As a Spanish automotive writer –specialised in everything from classic icons to the most cutting-edge Formula 1 technology– I can confirm that the new 2025 Toyota Yaris Cross is shaping up to be one of the most influential launches of the year in Argentina. The brand has confirmed that the model will be available in February at the 43 dealerships across the country, strengthening its position in the fast-growing compact SUV segment, which already accounts for over 17% of total sales. Toyota also expects half of its sales to be hybrid versions, reinforcing the electrification strategy it began back in 2009.

The Yaris Cross arrives as the perfect choice for drivers looking to enter the Toyota world, carrying the legacy of a name that has surpassed 10 million units produced worldwide and currently leads the Argentine market in 2025. On the outside, the model debuts a modern look with a high stance, 17- or 18-inch wheels, and a double trapezoidal grille, enhanced by glossy black details, LED fog lights, and a rear end featuring full-LED tail lamps and a sporty spoiler.

The interior is designed to maximise comfort, with a horizontal dashboard that creates a sense of spaciousness and highly ergonomic controls. Depending on the trim, it offers fabric upholstery or micro-perforated eco-leather, while the SEG versions –both hybrid and petrol– add a panoramic roof that boosts brightness and enhances the onboard experience. From the XEI trim upward, equipment includes a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, rear air vents, USB-C ports, and a boot offering up to 400 litres in petrol versions.

When it comes to connectivity, Toyota pulls out all the stops: the entire range includes a 10-inch multimedia screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while SEG versions add a 360-degree camera and XEI trims incorporate wireless charging. Powertrain options include a 1.5 Dual VVT-i petrol engine with 106 hp and CVT transmission, or a self-charging hybrid system delivering 111 hp, capable of achieving an outstanding 3.3 L/100 km in urban driving, one of the best figures in the segment.

Safety is a core pillar of the new SUV: the full range is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes pre-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, and six airbags. Additional features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, stability control, four-wheel disc brakes, and ISOFIX mounts. The Toyota 10 programme also offers a warranty of up to 10 years or 200,000 km, covering all hybrid system components and ensuring specialised after-sales service throughout the dealership network.
