New Toyota RAV4 2026: Hybrid and PHEV SUV Now Priced in Europe

By  |

The Japanese bestseller arrives refreshed with more technology, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions offering up to 304 hp and 100 km of electric range.

The Toyota RAV4 2026 is now on sale in Europe, standing out as one of the most important SUVs of the year. Although technically a deep restyling of the current model, it keeps the same 4.60-meter length and 2.69-meter wheelbase. The platform has been updated to meet strict emissions regulations, which has even led to reduced power output in some versions. Its key rivals include the Citroën C5 Aircross, Ford Kuga, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5 2026, MG HS, Opel Grandland, Peugeot 3008, and Renault Austral.

Hybrid and plug-in engines with FWD or AWD

The entry-level option is the conventional hybrid (183 hp) with Eco label and front-wheel drive, capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. Above it sits the AWD version with 191 hp, which improves acceleration to 7.7 seconds. The major highlight is the new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) lineup with Zero label: the base version produces 268 hp with front-wheel drive, while the PHEV AWD-i delivers 304 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.

Up to 100 km in full electric mode

One of the strongest assets of the new RAV4 is its 22.7 kWh battery, which enables up to 100 km of electric-only driving. Charging options include 11 kW AC and up to 50 kW DC, making it a very competitive SUV against its closest rivals. In all versions, top speed is limited to 180 km/h, and the system relies on the e-CVT automatic transmission with planetary gears.

Range and equipment

The Toyota RAV4 2026 is offered in four trims: RAV4, Icon, Premium, and the sporty GR SPORT. Even the base model includes multiple airbags, dual-zone climate control, rear-view camera, blind-spot monitor, Bi-LED headlights, 12.3-inch digital cluster, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Higher trims add features such as a 12.9-inch navigation system, powered tailgate, electrically folding mirrors, drive mode selector, and the comprehensive Toyota Safety Sense package.

A bestseller ready for the future

The new RAV4 2026 strengthens its position as a benchmark among hybrid SUVs in Europe, offering greater efficiency, longer electric range, and AWD variants that deliver near-sportscar performance. With its mix of technology, safety, and versatility, Toyota ensures the RAV4 remains one of the most complete and balanced choices in its segment.
