New Skoda Fabia 2025: the small hot hatch that costs more than an Audi A3 — and skips hybrid power

Skoda launches in Spain the sportiest version of its Fabia, packing 177 hp and a dynamic attitude, though without any electrification… and with a price that will surprise many

The new Skoda Fabia 130 1.5 TSI with 177 hp marks a turning point for the Czech brand’s compact model. While it doesn’t revive the legendary RS badge, this version clearly channels that spirit, combining a turbocharged 1.5-liter petrol engine, a seven-speed DSG gearbox, and a chassis tuned for driving pleasure. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds and reaches 228 km/h, placing it among the most powerful superminis on sale today.

Sporty design with a distinctive Czech touch
Visually, the Fabia 130 stands out with its two-tone body, darkened BiLED headlights, and a black gloss grille. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels featuring red brake calipers for a striking contrast. Additional design cues, such as the rear diffuser, side skirts, and roof spoiler, underline its athletic nature. Inside, it offers ergonomic seats with red stitching, metallic inserts, sport pedals, and a flat-bottom steering wheel, blending practicality with an unmistakably sporty atmosphere.

Fully equipped and tech-savvy
In terms of features, the Fabia 130 comes well prepared: Virtual Cockpit, touchscreen with wireless SmartLink, Climatronic air conditioning, six airbags, fatigue and distraction detection, and driving mode selector. It delivers the comfort and connectivity expected from a modern urban car while maintaining a driver-focused, analog spirit that enthusiasts will appreciate.

No hybrid system, but full of character
Unlike most of its rivals, this Fabia doesn’t include any hybrid technology, meaning it carries only the “C” environmental badge from Spain’s DGT. Yet Skoda’s choice is intentional — the car is designed for those who value pure driving sensations, offering a more direct steering setup, a sports suspension lowered by 15 mm, and tuned stability controls that allow for a more engaging drive.

More expensive than an Audi A3? Yes — and Skoda knows it

The biggest surprise comes with its price: €37,700 in Spain. That’s actually higher than the Audi A3 Advanced 1.5 TFSI mild-hybrid (150 hp), which starts at €36,960 and comes with the Eco label. Skoda is clearly not competing on price here — it’s offering exclusivity, performance, and authentic driving enjoyment. In a world racing toward electrification, the Fabia 130 stands as a rare tribute to the joy of driving, reminding enthusiasts that there’s still room for spirited, combustion-powered cars with true personality.
